You’re not that clueless, I refuse to believe it:

The defence is more of an issue (as evidenced by the previous match) than whichever goalkeeper starts today.

Let me put it like this, it wouldn't really matter who you start as goalkeeper today if the goals being conceded are coming from errors in the defence.

That is true, but having a competent keeper is a must as that breathes confidence in the people in front of him. The keeper is part of that defence, so I'd rather have Jakub than Ward for that reason.

Yeah but look at Everton at KP the season we went down. Madders penalty gift wrapped to Pickford sent us down.

And we had 4 games left to save ourselves after that game, which included Liverpool and Newcastle

After today we have 21 games to play

As I said in the Ward thread: I understand the situation isn't ideal, but if Mads Hermansen isn't fully 100% fit then I would rather Danny Ward to start.

Rather Jakub S start, ward has already shown he's not good enough,

The thing with Cunha is its not a question of whether he is going to be banned. Everyone knows he will be. It's a joke that this can't be decided before the next game, it happened a week a go FFS. Takes a second to give him a ban, if Wolves want to appeal to shortern they can do but he will always miss the next game whatever the ban.

Absolute joke of a system.

That said I hope Ruud hasn't been focusing on this too much, and gives the players an excuse. Need to beat them, Cunha or not.

I'd prefer a drunk Mads with two broken wrists and a missing eye than a GK who turns side-on in 1v1 situations.

Danny Ward is afraid of footballs! He is completely useless.

It’s like saying you wouldn’t want to wear a stab vest whilst getting stabbed. Yes we’re minging defensively but why play a gk who literally can’t save shots when added to that

It wasn't even like it was debatable either or a situation where it could be one thing or another....it's clear cut as they come. Nothing to debate. If that was at work you'll be suspended instantly and pending investigation as to how long. What happens if it kicks off today? It highly likely won't, but what if it did, the FA will look utter useless.

I hope Vards goes in early on him to rattle him.

You’re missing the point. The point is that one loss against a weak club can affect the whole season. It doesn’t matter when in the season it happens.

Would give him Thursday night off (which he’s probably getting anyway)

I can assure you I’m not missing the point, I’m saying there are 22 more games to get the amount of points needed to stay up.

Today is a massive game between 2 clubs that will definitely be in the mix come May. To stay up you more than likely need to beat the teams around you, especially at home, but defeat wont mean certain relegation like some people are saying

My point is more around the hyperbole involved in football. One game in a 38 game season played in December does not define your season, but I agree, it can damage it.

Drawing at home to your relegation rivals in May and missing a penalty to go 3-1 up, yes that is season defining

We’ve never conceded that many in such a short space of time this season. 1-0 at half time, 3-0 after 4 minutes of Ward coming on. Quit being so deluded. Yes defence is shite, but Ward is done.

It does matter

because on average we concede about 20 shots per match.

So if ward starts it could easily be 19 conceded
