He played for Parma all season bar one game where he was suspended. So, my question is, why would Parma sell him mid-season for only 3m? Is there some massive sell-on clause?

Out of contract at the end of the season, and presumably was going to leave on a free if they didnt sell in this window.

Why would you be? He only comes from a team with the 2nd worst defence in the league shipping 35 goals so far (the bottom club GA is 28 for reference)?!?
