Probably be a loan to buy knowing us

Milan have money, report mention us bring in a replacement, we only do that if he's going for money.

We have been linked with Doyle again.

Drain the swamp.

We have more then enough with Nelson, Vestergaard, Faes, Souttar (when fit) and Aluko

Doyle isn't that good a defender and not premier league quality.

He can pass though.  Might as well keep wout.

He wad playing out of position here, he's a CB not a LB.

Anything less than 20m and we've been mugged off.

Most importantly it's more funds that we can use to pay Soumare and slipps BDR wages.

If we can break even we should.

We massively overpaid in the first place.

I wanted Okoli and Nelson to be our starting CB's but I think that was mostly because I dislike Faes and Vestergaard so much.

In truth, a Faes Vestergaard partnership in the Championship, is probably still our best pairing from what we have.

I think we should sell Okoli if we get a decent enough fee and bring in a CB on loan to give us Faes, Vesty, Nelson, + 1 with Harry Souter back at some point too.

Any pairing that doesn't contain Nelson is not our best pairing.

Faes and Vestergaard are unreliable defenders even at this level, one good game doesnt change that. We need someone like Nelson who is more likely to win a tackle if he goes for it than lose it.

They weren't unreliable under Maresca in a full season in the Championship. I like Nelson a lot but Faes and Vestergaard look very assured on the ball, especially when we have 60-70% possession at this level. I can see Nelson starting a lot of games for us anyway whether through injuries or just pushing one of those two out the 11 for a time.

I’d say a team with the budget that we had last time round, that conceded 41 times, is pretty unreliable.

For comparison, last season, Burnley conceded 16, Leeds 30 and even Sheffield United 36.

I’d say that it was a bit of a myth that Faes and Jannik were very good in the Championship.

It’s probably fairer to say that we were comparing them both to their performances in the PL. Which is pretty damning considering their PL wages.

Agree to disagree. I think they are a decent and reliable pairing at this level, but not good enough together for the Premier League.
Neither are the best at keeping goals out, but they both excel at this level with the ball, passing and moving it forward, which contributes to our attacks.
We are likely to have a lot of possession in most games again this season, and that is where we saw Okoli look wobbly first half, but Faes and Vesty look composed and confident. Nelson could certainly push either of them for a starting spot, but our CB's are the least of our worries in this window. We should focus on midfield and striking options.

Logically, selling him and getting Nelson in the first team makes sense. &nbsp

with faes as a back up and souttar to return, we simply have to take the cash if it’s a good deal.

Let him go, Nelson is the CB we need to go all in to develop this year. If faes and vestergard are the two we can't get rid of, so be it, they are more than capable at this level.

Bang on, I made the exact same point with these numbers a day or so ago and got laughed at by a couple of Faes/Vestergaard fanboys!

41 is still under one a game so it’s not awful, lets not overreact. But it’s bang average and the figures from last year, Burnley and Leeds show what a good defensive record is. It’s shows for a side pushing 100 points, this was more a reflection of our attacking side that carried the defence whereas with Burnley, you can see it was the defence/GK that carried them. Without KDH and his goals and assists, and Vardy’s goals, we need the defence to be much better this season if we have ambitions to go up. Playing two players who are very average defenders at this level is a bad bad call.

Also, those who essentially say, ah they’re fine at this level just not if we go up. What do you seriously think is going to happen? If they are the main partnership this season and we go up, of course it’ll be them again next season!

There’s no way Milan pay 20 million 😂 if he does go tho we should go after the below ASAP!

Doyle

Vušković ( loan )

No thanks to Doyle. Not good enough.

Sell him. The more I watch him the more I’m convinced he’s not very good.

Do we even need a replacement? We had Faes and Nelson on the bench who are both better than him. Souttar to come back too.

we can hopefully use the money to get a striker in.

I like him but I think if we claw back the original fee and anything else on top, we sell.

He's still got a lot of developing to do, he's not a Fofana either where you can see he could play at the very top level.

If a sale means we effectively got a freebie for a year, trialled him and wish to try our hand elsewhere then so be it.

Don't think he needs replacing either.

With Okoli I see is a big strong defender without much of a football brain to be honest. If he goes then we'll see more of Ben Nelson who I think could genuinely go right to the top one day. The Steve Cooper summer (apart from El Khannous) really was awful

Nelson is equally as good on the ball, quicker and more versatile too.
