offloading calamity ward to Wrexham could turn out to be the deal of the season!

or is it a Trojan horse as Wrexham fans might see it 🤣

Had a quick look at the Sheff Utd forum. They seem to be desperate for Steve Cooper

Nah but i think I'd rather die than watch him finish above the squad he's largely responsible for

West Brom on the end of a couple of stinkers of decisions today. Should have had a penalty and Portsmouth should have had a red card. Instead Mason got a red anyway...

How much desire do the majority of players have to get there again and be pumped every week

Probably a lot for the promotion bonuses and related pay increases. A shorter season, putting themselves out there for a transfer back into the PL (if relegated) and more money. Most would do a lot for PL football.

I thought you were taking the piss but you're right, their xG was so low.. Not sure how this is possible

Very good start by some unfancied sides.

3 out of 3 for Stoke, the Robins factor? Very good manager and did a great job at Coventry. Stoke seem to have a lot of money but get it wrong mostly but with Robins they could be challenging.

Middlesbrough as well but I think they are more likely to drop off a bit at least. Preston started well 2 years ago and fell off and I don’t see any more in them this time.

Coventry are an odd one. A huge win yesterday but doesn’t sound like they really created that many chances with the xg at only around 1.5. But shows they can finish so will be up there.

Didn't know where else to stick this but Brian Barry-Murphy's made a very good start at Cardiff. 3-0 up tonight (admittedly against a dreadful Cheltenham) but 13 points from his first 5 games with just 1 goal conceded. Has signed only a goalkeeper, has promoted a load of youngsters into their team. This is not meant as a pop at Cifuentes but I do wonder if the answer was under our noses particularly when he'd just spent a few months here and would've known already who the bad eggs were, while Cifuentes has had to learn it all at quite short notice.

Southampton lose Tyler Dibling to Everton.

Everton are a decent bet to push for Europe, I think. They're a very different beast under Moyes and their new owners.

I think they'll be 9th or 10th. Europe perhaps pushing it. New stadium bounce too will take them some way.

I can see them running it close. Five or six are obvious - Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa. Tottenham too. After that, the seventh place is between Everton, Manchester United, Brighton and Forest at a push.

They were terrible against Leeds. I think they’ll be good at home but struggle on their travels. Going to be a very one dimensional side.

I'm loathe to start another xG debate on this message board, but one game where a team outperforms their xG (even significantly) does not make it a poor metric.
