I thought you could as long as that player was out of contract within the window and not released from it after the window was closed. But might be different once squad have been submitted.

Is it not more the case that we shipped out more than we brought in, and young players don't need to be registered, so we just have a free space?

Now don't get me wrong it very well possibly be that. Could you imagine Daka getting injured and being out for the rest of the season? Now don't get me wrong he's not my favourite player but imagine being left with an ageing Vardy and Edouard who hasn't had much of a kick this season as your striker options when fighting relegation.

I think Ruud would pick Ayew up front before he'd use Edouard. He'll probably end up back at Celtic next season and score 50 goals a season

Ben Yedder on a short term deal would be an interesting shout given our lack of firepower.

If he's fit enough (the spell in the US was good) Asier Illaremendi wouldn't be the worst pick up. Then get him doing his coaching badges because Basques are disproportionately great managers.
