Moyes has shown how poor Dyche was at Everton, so not sure he would be great here with a worse squad.

One bad spell doesn't define a manager though. I saw the same arguments made about Moyes regarding his poor form at West Ham last season.

But Moyes turned it around at West Ham towards the end of the season. They were going through a bad patch.

Based on what they've spent on players this season he was doing an excellent job.

Potter hasn't exactly changed their fortunes.

Moyes categorically said he wasn't interested when Cooper was sacked. Respected journalists have reported this.

If that is the case then it sounds like we did not have much to choose from. We should have stuck with Cooper longer. Anyway it is is what it is now and we have what we have.

Trust your previous judgment - you were right before! No matter what our situation is, Dyche is not, and never will be, the answer.

Really? I think we need a complete clear out so if he was here he could bring his own players. We need to think about getting out the championship which he knows really well. Any better options at the minute?

Speak to any Everton fan - the things they were saying about Dyche before he was sacked were very similar to what our fans are saying about RVN: baffling team selections, bizarre tactics, no real identity, chronic inability to score goals. Yes, they were better defensively than we are, but apart from that they were awful. Then Moyes walked in the door, clicked his fingers and they’re suddenly a completely different side. It’s difficult to believe that that anybody who actually cares about our football club’s future could possibly want Dyche as our manager.

Think it's hard to say definitively that just because someone was rubbish elsewhere they'll be useless at the next club. A lot is down to fit. Loads of examples of managers being good or bad at a particular club then they move and the situation is very different. Straight off the top of my head I can think of Moyes, Dyche, Pearson, Howe, Emery, Koeman, Benitez, Nuno, and there are countless others.

Not saying Dyche is my ideal choice, but I get the impression he'd be a good fit for us. Honest bloke, demands 100%, won't take any BS; in many ways very similar to Pearson. Yes, he'd park the bus, the football would be pragmatic, and we probably wouldn't be competing for any honours, but where we are right now we need a safe pair of hands that will provide some stability and I think he'd at least offer us that, even if it's only for a few seasons.

There’s no way you would have been saying this at the time.

He wasn’t getting past Christmas even had we decided to stick by him.

It needs to be remembered that under Cooper we had one of the worst pre-seasons I can remember.

I’d say there’s two big reasons why Dyche wouldn’t happen at this stage (if Ruud departs).

1.) We would be wary of appointing a manager that’s only just been relieved from his job for poor performances.

2.) Dyche would be wary of immediately jumping into a job where the teams performed horribly for some time.

Having a break and reassessing in the summer unless something exceptional comes up would surely be his plan - we’re not an exceptional opportunity at present.

Just noticed Middlesbrough have lost 5 games in a row (and 7 in 8)... if they sack Carrick, Ruud should do everything in his power and Yanited connections to bring him here as a first team coach or assistant

RVN has struggled so far but he's a young risky appointment so this was always a possibility, I'd personally like to see if he could rebuild in the championship if he's willing

I think if we could integrate some academy lads, keep young talents like bilal and fatawu which is unlikely then I'd like to see what he can do in the championship

Michael Carrick won’t go from a manager to assistant he will get another gig soon enough at that level.

Just look at the West Hams fans comments about Moyes.

Fickle bunch those football fans

I did if you look back. Ruud has been worse. The players may have turned against Cooper but they have just downed tools now. I did not say he should not have been sacked at all hit I did say he should have been given longer. He wasn't and we got something.worse.

Dyche ticks all the boxes

- available

- prem and champ experience

- back room staff

- no nonsense mentality

- will play youth

I would also trust him to rebuild the team and get it right while bringing through youth, he’s had enough experience in both leagues

You’ll have to remind me when he did that. Honestly not trying to be dismissive but I can’t think of a single young lad he brought at Everton rsther sticking with Ashley Young and Michael Keane when young prospects were available

And the issue is ‘his own player’ are from the old experience line Cooper used. Ashley Young for example one of his signings at Everton.

Thats why the conversation of Dyche should stop. He a needs must manager rsther than a strategist. This club needs the latter.

Too many quick fix tactics has us here now.

I mentioned it in the Leuven thread more as an enquiry than anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got Coleman from them tbh.

Prem and Champ experience after all!  Mad that it's been nearly 20 years since he was the Fulham gaffer in the Prem!

Not saying I want him, before anyone shits themselves.

I mean from his time when he was at Burnley, he built that team on a shoe string and got them promoted etc

He barely picked O'Brien who Moyes brought straight in.

I just cannot see how he fits here with the squad we have got and the players he usually uses. We would probably still have Reid and Ayew in the team.

Ayew is Dyches dream player, fall over to win as many fouls as possible then just smash it into the box

plenty to choose from, we just chose wrongly. It was still the right decision to sack Cooper, we had no chance of staying up with him in charge, we had a chance if we sacked him and got the following appointment right.
