There is such a thing as too complex, too sophisticated.

We need a back to basics manager.  But I welcome you to give me some names for the quick transitional and pressing managers, then I will offer an opinion.

I guess this depends on how much of a rebuild we can afford, if we manage to offload the 10-12 players including contracts ending and we have room to spend, we could potentially get a more sophisticated manager with an identity and a system (that could be replicated by other managers after him)
My main worry would be us going for someone like Dyche who plays quite a rigid system without much dynamic fluency, we then spend 18 months signing players for that system, sack Dyche, then the new manager coming in arrives to a team full of workhorses without the tactical flair to adapt to anything else.

One thing Puel did well is buy players who could play in multiple different styles if needed, Dyche typically tends to go for players I would consider quite "one dimensional" though there are a few examples that don't fit that mold like Ndiaye. Just need a bit of balance really.

Good shout. Maybe the glue behind Brendan's success with us.

Absolutely no chance. Spoke to him recently and he is loving life at Birmingham. They will give the championship a good go again next year. Plenty to spend.

Their owners and board are everything ours are not. They are addressing everything off the pitch as well as backing the manager on it.

A huge stadium and complex development in the planning stages aswell.

Whilst I think Dyche would be a great Pearson like appointment I fear that due to not losing anyone in the summer it could be that Martin would replicate last season ( yawn) with Enzo’s system. Back to square one on promotion though?

There certainly is such a thing as being too complex. But the appropriate response to that is not to go to the opposite extreme and adopt a rigid, one-dimensional approach that you can’t adapt because your manager can only play one way.

Our best chance of getting promoted back to the PL and actually staying there this time is to find a manager who is adaptable and flexible. Dyche is not that. He can organise a defence, but that’s about it. The football Everton played under him was execrable. He also has a tendency to favour ageing workhorses over young talent - as others have pointed out, he’d fill our squad with ‘honest’ but very limited players that we’d struggle to shift when he inevitably got sacked. Given the overwhelming recent evidence that successful newly-promoted teams tend to have tactically smart, adaptive managers, it’s incredible that anybody is genuinely advocating for Dyche.

Yeah, the problem is I think there is little direction at the club other than Top's requirement we play like Man City.

I do agree on a intelligent well thought out player recruitment policy, with the priority that the players are compatible with each other, have a good mentality, and have the attributes needed to supplement each other.

But of course, right now it feels like we just throwing darts at a board for player recruitment, and the club is totally lost on good financial management for the player budget.

Generally speak a pragmatic manager who doesnt try anything too fancy would be best for the start of the rebuild, and then as the squad is taking shape maybe 2-3 years later, a more focused manager that is on the strength of the squad is brought in, but should still be open to adapting if needed for specific opponents.

Because our DoF is useless, and there is little quality leadership from above him, asking for a specific manager is always going to draw criticism due to the wider issues, but I do have the opinion that a style focused on slow intricate build up is not the way forward, and that we also cant afford a squad for that way of play.

Whilst I would be ok with Dyche, it doesnt mean I am focused on him as the only manager I would be ok with, in truth I dont really know much about many managers which is I asked for same names I could research and given an opinion on, I am open.

Liam Rosenior please, Hull were brilliant when we last played them at the KP and has done wonders at Strasbourg.

We will be linked with every manager under the sun and end up with a rubbish manager as usual

We've had a self-concieted vain manger in Rogers, and we don't need his acolyte Russell Martin to up the ante. I don't think I could stomach s**t coming out of his mouth.

Realistically, we'll get turned down by any half-decent manager and end up with Russell Martin..

He might well do a semi-decent job with his tippy tappy football at Championship level and get us up.

Bottom of the Prem by next Xmas and he'll be gone and the cycle restarts.

And that's the best case scenario - worst case we do a Stoke, Blackburn, Wigan etc.

He'd be my number 1 choice, the more I think about it. Concerns about a lack of pragmatism for the PL, but think he'd set the right standards and demand things to change at Seagrave. Loves a youngster too which is probably number 1 on my list.

No guarantees he'd take it at all, but if he did, he can rescue Kyogo from Rennes and bring him in too please

I'd love to know how we make these decisions on managers.

What did Cooper say in his impressive PowerPoint presentation?

What homework analysis did we do on Ruud to think.he'd be good for the club? Because the PSV fans weren't convinced, his record wasn't brilliant.

We need a plan to build a team that can take on the championship, and survive in the prem, we need to know how we're going to achieve that with transfer budgets for next 6 windows with various scenarios, we need player targets, we need opinions for footballing people the club may know, we have ex players and managers who are close to the club, ffs top, use them and stop going with a bunch and a dream

Both Dyche and Martin would be horrible appointments.

Very very bored with the same names being mentioned time after time can the club cast the net wider ... Brighton style ... we need a totally new strategy for the club

Urs Fischer

Brian Priske

Kasper Hjulmand

Bo Svensson

Quique Sanchez Flores

Julien Stephan

Mark Van Bommel

These are readily available and imo realistic targets who we could get. Not saying they are perfect but who we should be looking at.

It's is a worry. I can't stand him. He oozes clichés.

He was linked in the past and plays (or tries to play) the way Top wants.

What's even more worrying is that he is available, free.

Be afraid...
