He will probably look at what's happened to Enzo and that will be enough to convince him, esp if no other clubs are willing to take a chance on him.

Oops, bad original reply...I misread that comment.

And this is where I really struggle - we are all good with the guy from bottom half of the championship but not the guy who has won it twice - the idealism is bonkers to me but everyone is welcome to their opinion - you are adamant its rohl on July 1 so I’ll back him and hop he does well because I love my team but the blanket optimism for him against dyche when he has done absolutely zero is crazy to me and let’s be clear Wednesday didn’t pull up any trees - they were better but not great - are we really at the point where we are good with being ok at shed wed - I find that hard to believe

I think it’s because more recently, Dyche has failed. He seems to be on the way down so it’s a more interesting prospect to have a guy on the way up.

Rohl has done a much better job at Wednesday than expected. He has also been there in very challenging circumstances. Dyche has worked ion a budget but Burnley were at least well ran. Rohl will have gained experience much beyond his management years at Wednesday.

The fact he has worked for a similar owner to Aiyawatt in Chansiri, has worked on a budget and the position he picked them up in could have been a points deduction the distance they were behind. These are all things that he will face or could face if he comes here. Despite his young age and lack of years in management, it feels he might just have the experience to navigate our position.

I’ve been an advocate for Wellens but even he has done well on a budget at Orient but at least with them being run well and on a level playing field (as in no embargo’s or deductions). Whereas Rohl has done all that.

Again not being argumentative for the sake of it - he has done absolutely nothing apart from make a crap team slightly better - he has never dealt with promotion expectations and never been number one at a team that NEEDS to get promoted - I don’t get It but pro says it’s a done deal so let’s see

What did you think to the Maresca appointment out of interest?

And you’re not being argumentative. You’re seeing it in a different way and actively wanting to be convinced and feel positive so just trying to help with that!

tbf I understand where you coming from with it, to say hes done nothing is a little disrespectful imo, he turned Sheff Weds around when they looked completely dead and buried, they should have beat us at their place too, has worked on a shoestring budget while hes been there too, adaptable as well.

saying the club needs promotion, honestly i dont think it does, we need to rebuild more than anything, as if we go straight back up, i see up going straight back down, the foundations need to be rebuilt

whoever comes in has a task on their hands, and even more so dealing with dumb and dumber as well

Really really bad take. They were bottom and dead and buried, a league one squad, with no money, players and staff not getting paid etc and yet he comfortably kept them up and then second season had them mid table all despite that off field chaos. He's highly rated, young, ambitious, forward thinking and probably the best we can get at this moment in time. He knows the division and is used to working with limitations, but wants to play progressive football. It's a no brainer to me.

Biggest part of a manager imo opinion is to inspire and get players to believe, some players are easier to work with than others, I think some of our squad are diifficult. I think the manager is half the task, if we don’t get those difficult players out it doesn’t matter who we get in

Interested in what about Rohl makes you think he is no suited?

Good enough or not is a very subjective thing as while suited or not is also subjective, the fact he has worked for a clueless Thai owner, in difficult circumstances budget wise, pulled Wednesday back from a position that was almost like a points deduction with how far behind they were when he started. All good signs in him having some good experience that would benefit him with us next season if he joined.

Mainly my impressions of the man I must admit but, and in no particular order -

I feel that we need to appoint a manager with a reasonable expectation on our part that he would stay for 2 / 3 seasons minimum to provide the recruitment and style- of-play continuity we need. I think Rohl is looking for a early return to managing in Germany - particularly with his wife's reported reluctance to settle in this country.

And -

I suspect there are some difficult if not toxic characters currently in our dressing room. I haven't heard of anything in his background to suggest that he has the presence or experience needed to deal with and overcome their influence.

That's  my current thinking for what it's worth.

Blimey I just seen Steve Cooper is 33/1 to be next manager. I reckon Mike Bassett has a better chance than that one.

Oh and I saw Michael Carrick down the Highcross this afternoon, so maybe he’s getting a feel of the Citeh.

Faes is a big problem IMO. I suspect him throwing his hands up in the air on the pitch and looking to blame everyone around him whenever we concede, is only the tip of the iceberg with him and his arrogance. I also think Vestergaard needs to go. Ideally, I would like us starting with 2 new CB's next season.

I am hoping Winks is not an issue, but a couple of red flags with him too. Perhaps, these three and Coady going, would be a good start for the new Manager.

Well RVN has already hinted at issues, this needs stamping out. It’s amazing there’s no system in place where players get fined for not doing their jobs

There’s no consensus.

Just people getting excited over managers they’ve never heard of a year ago, for them to flop and moan that they’ve not been sacked a year later
