jeez

i mean we all make mistakes but ……

Five Met officers taken off duty after weapons find https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjd8y33ze08o

Could have easily been such a different outcome. Luckily the passerby called Police and that the weapons didn't get into the wrong hands.

Cynical (very cynical I admit) part of me thinks it was left on purpose outside the mayor's home?

Like an east end version of a horses head on your pillow !

With those responsible for the weapons totally identifiable then the answer is no chance whatsoever.

1 recused alive by the US, other one MIA and the rescue craft fired upon. Israel now not striking Iran tonight as the US search.

Trump has basically said he wont negotiate if this person is captured by Iran. So its marines, smash and grab or leave them there. Republican base will be divided whatever they choose.

They managed to get the second airman back.

will this encourage trump or have the opposite effect?  Or neither 😄

It’s more that the system ( congress , US Supreme Court, constitution ) was supposed to reel in or curtail the worst excesses of a president but it fell apart with the craven and cowardly GOP unable or unwilling to risk the wrath of a degenerate moron .

Agreed.

Those checks and balances worked with Nixon. They clearly are not here (or at least not nearly as effectively as they should be).

He gave them a 6th April deadline

so he has to do something on the 7th

and the markets are open 7th

Probably just kick the can down the road till end of the week

Mind you, he won’t want anything interfering with watching the masters next weekend

Trump uses colourful language to tell Iran to open Strait of Hormuz

In a follow-up post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump has used somewhat colourful language to call on Iran to let ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

He announced that Tuesday will be "power plant day and bridge day all wrapped up in one in Iran" - presumably a reference to his threats to destroy Iranian infrastructure.

He continues: "Open the F***in' Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

He’s surrounded himself with lunatics like Stephen Miller, Lindsey ‘ladybugs’ Graham and Mark Levin and lost complete touch with reality.

You just know he is being racist about that given  the context of the message.

Funny, calling Iran crazy  bastards when he attacks two countries without provocation and threatens to annex other countries.  Gtfoh.

Incoming war crimes by Trump and his communist regime over the next few days.

They’ll gaslight you into thinking China and Russia are sub human scum but there really isn’t a more disgusting government on earth than that of the United States of America. They’re the worst combination of powerful and bigoted. Trump is obviously the worst of the worst but there’s people behind the scenes pulling his strings.

Surely one of his advisors would tell him to calm down a bit and do things logically?

It’s his advisors that are part of the issue. He’s booted out all the foreign policy moderates (such as Vance of all people) and hangs out with the worst people on earth.

A bit like the farage lovers here, no matter what nonsense he spouts they just support him anyway.

The GOP in its entirely have shown flagrant disregard for the role of Congress, the senate, supreme court etc. They've enabled a clearly nuts old man sonny because they think it gives them power.

Can't see them having power for long and if this continues the US will have no friends and there'll be a lot of evidence of criminality by multiple people within the American regime.

Eh? And who precisely are "they"? I'm not aware of any credible source suggesting that the Chinese or Russian government are "sub-human scum". Pure hyperbole. Amusingly, that's precisely the rhetoric used by Vladimir Putin to describe anyone who opposed his 'special military operation' in Ukraine or brands it a war or has fled the country due to intimidation. Scum, traitors and enemies of the state.

As abhorrent as the current US administration is, (and I agree with Noam Chomsky that one of the greatest existential threats within the democratic world is the 'Repugnant' party), let's not forget both China and Russia are an absolutist one party state where political opposition is ruthlessly crushed or eliminated - think Lam Cheuk-ting, Jimmy Lai, Boris Nemtsov and Alexei Navalny. The Putin regime had long been oppressive, but not totalitarian. In terms of Moscow and Beijing, what qualifies as totalitarian can be debated. The political theorist Hannah Arendt defined it as systematic reliance on terror. The Stalin and Mao eras fitted this definition. It was a place of fear and of purges, or arbitrary large-scale murders and knocks on door at night, with suspects taken away by shadowy state agents, never to be seen again, of prison camps and gulags administered by colossal security bureaucracy. Prior to 2022, Putin had not taken Russia to this point but his wartime state is at least as controlling and restrictive as Leonid Brezhnev's Soviet Union and the regime is moving even further in the direction of the 1930s using methods of coercion. intimidation and state control and neo Soviet regression. The FSB inherited many of its domestic functions of the KGB, and increasingly the spy agency began to resemble the NKVD now exercising far greater control than in the late Soviet era.

Meanwhile, as much as I despise everything that Donald Trump represents, if you think that there isn't "a more disgusting governing body on Earth than that of the United States" I suggest that you familiarise yourself with the Kim dynasty.

One thing I will add to this is while Russia and North Korea are reprehensible, they don't pretend to be paragons of virtue to the entire world through the most sophisticated media onslaught ever devised. The lie of it, the faux-righteousness so betrayed by a closer look at actual actions, is pretty disgusting.

China are much more complex than the above two IMO - no ones doubts the degree of state control that the government has there, but also they are clearly focused on the long game in a way that practically no other big player is, and that's important in of itself.

Don't care, why would we. Doesn't change an iota about this repulsive episode in world history, does it. (Wonder how many folks were killed as a result of this "rescue mission.") Personally couldn't have lower thoughts about anyone involved in this. The Iran war is a staggering act of evil racist ineptitude

It's extremely funny that millions of Americans thought Obama was a crypto Muslim and so based almost solely on that voted for a man now tweeting "praise be to Allah" on Easter Sunday.
