It's ok if you are at home during the day.

The best way (the current way) is to reduce energy consumption before figuring out ways to generate it.

Heat pumps are pretty much standard on all houses now. So I will give credit to the government for legislating for something that's already standard practice.

Really,  can you back that up,  a quick google suggests that just 4.5k new house builds last year had heat pumps installed.

Just what I see on the drawings, I don't pay that much attention in fairness. Maybe the social houses don't have them?

True, but the law of diminishing returns.

Have just been watching 'dirty business' on C4 adout the pollution instigated by water companies. It's very, very clear that regulation is a good thing and that standards are required, in this case ensuring insulation is not reduced by changing any necessary regulation.

Unfortunately for years deregulation has been a political buzzword as a positive move towards efficiency.

In practice deregulation often ends in disaster.

Practically every single regulation written has been written in blood.

Deregulation just means more blood flows again. Clearly that's morally acceptable to some.

Trump non truths.

During the 22/23 Election campaign: I’ll end the Ukraine  within 24 hours.

Claims of widespread election fraud - proven to be false.

I’ve ended 7 - 8 wars. Where were these wars? Are they still ongoing? Did they re-start?

Huge job growth and trillions of $$$$ in investment. Slow growth stated by economist and more pledges of investment, rather than actual

investment.

We’ll pay the lowest drugs prices in the world. Economist say no evidence to support this.

Claimed specific crimes were undertaken by illegal immigrants. Since proven to be US citizens.

Climate change isn’t real. Overwhelming scientific evidence suggests otherwise.

Zero illegal immigrants entered the US in 2026. Did they just stop counting?

Mail in voting is cheating. Is it? Really?

Greatest economy in History. Are we just omitting Workshop Britain in the 18th century, or the post WW2 boom?

Biden left $85b worth of equipment in Afghanistan. Actually around $7b.

Now we have the war in Iran is over …… despite Israel still being bombarded.

Adds another 5-10k to new build housing costs.

It is possible (probable) that as this has been dealt with via planning the building regs won't change. So the extra spent on these will be offset by reducing the insulation in the walls making the house less efficient overall than it is at present.

That's regs quite easily added in tbf though.

Really? Everything i've seen on it seems to suggest adoption in new builds was pretty poor.

'Standard' would suggest that something like 70% upwards have heat pumps which I find very hard to beleive

Tbf if you're going to write a list of all the times that man has lied, you're going to need digital storage in the exabyte range. Or, if you're more old fashioned, practically all the plain paper currently existing for writing on.

The world leaders and I think many of his own cabinet know he lies and misrepresent the truth but no one in his cabinet or inner circle dare challenge him.

He's no better or different to Putin except he exists in a "free democratic" country.

He managed to contradict himself in one sentence today.

He said they'd destroyed their leadership so badly that no one knew who was in charge anymore, but that they had good talks with their leaders. (I'm paraphrasing his ramble)

He finished the rant by saying that if there was no solution then they (USA) would "carry on bombing our little hearts out." (Actual verbatim quote)

Awww, ain't that sweet? They'll bomb their little hearts out.

I checked our social schemes and you are right, still gas. Probably due to the cheaper install cost and cost saving to the tenant.

Must be our other private schemes and apartment schemes that have heat pump boilers installed.

The 4.2% is a ludicrously low figure of 8k houses per year. Its low to the point of being unbelievable.

It truly baffles me that the media (and markets) seem to take everything Trump says so seriously, poring over every sentence as if it were something Moses brought back on tablets of stone. Admittedly some of it is probably tongue in cheek, but to the casual consumer of news it gives far too much credibility to his rantings. Everything he says should be treated as noise unless independently corroborated.

I’m surprised the markets react to what he says at this point.

I think there are two reasons for that.

First up, while a fair bit of what he says is noise, there is then stuff that either he or his supporters take seriously and (more importantly) act upon. Because of the nature of the man and how serious the consequences of such action are, even though such words and threats are often groundless I don't blame those who are in the firing line for taking whatever he says seriously until shown otherwise, rather than the other way round.

Secondly, the man is the President of the United States, with all the power and influence that goes with that position. At the extreme end of the scale, he has only to make one decision and billions of people die as a result. Why on earth shouldn't anyone expect seriousness from a person in that position, particularly on the matters being talked about here?

Speaking personally, I think the man and his followers are a threat to a great many living beings both through incompetence and flat out malice, and should be treated as such until they no longer have any such power to do harm.

this is interesting. While setting quantitative targets is always dangerous territory, I think it tells me that Reform will complain about non white people not ‘integrating’ but then want to block any access to forms of integration. We know that football and sport is the ultimate community intervention and honestly think how many lads and girls from minority communities have bettered themselves through the power of sport. So screw Suella and screw reform.

Well, yes, the double bind is obvious, as is the reason for it.

They don't want integration at all. They simply want an ethnostate.

Seen a few things saying Iran has called him out saying they haven’t had any contact with him and it’s all just him try to mess with the markets

he gave 5 days for talks to get done which is the time of when the next markets close ( or something along those lines sorry) so will probably wait until then and then start acting like a psycho again

You can see all the bets come in just before he makes his announcements - which you’d assume only very high ups in the government would have knowledge of his pending announcements. This war, the announcements, the chaos, the scapegoating, it’s all just a rigged gambling game where they know the outcome beforehand and it’s all just designed to make him and his mates richer while everyone else suffers the consequences. It’s what Putin does too, it’s all out in the open too, they don’t exen try and hide it.

They think that because of the power they already have, consequences do not apply to them.

It is the job of anyone, everyone else who can, to show them that they are wrong.
