Exactly that. Non of us know exactly what has happened, when, why or how in detail during this recruitment process. Its almost all speculation as It makes total sense that a club would keep its business as close to its chest as possible, and not potentially undermine its efforts by communiicating to fans at every step. Its fruistrating for sure but completely the right approach. Those whos opinions are already formed will see this lack of communication as being evidence of their absolution conviction of incompetence because thats what they already beleive. Maybe it is incompetenece and reactive chaos. Maybe its just been a complex thing with lots of moving parts needing to align in order to deleiver a clearly defined vision for the club. I get really bored of people banging on about this, to be honest. "Pragmatic" has become one of the most misused and overused words in the English language on FoxesTalk since Enzo was appointed. He had a clearly defined philosophy and belief in how to win a football game and, if you listen to Cifuentes in his own words, he'll pretty much describe near exactly the same thing. The fundamental difference between them in their careers to date hasn't been how flexible or inflexible they are willing to be but the opportunities they've had presented to them. Enzo, partly because of who he is in football, lets be honest, has walked in to a couple of high profile jobs and has been able to work with some excellent footballers. He's nearly always had the tools at his disposal to play the football he wants to. One of the first things we did when he turned up was drop about 10m on Harry Winks for him. Cifuentes has come up through a far more unorthadox route and has often had to make do. That doesn't mean he rocked up at Hospitalet or Hammarby and started lumping it long like a Sean Dyche disciple, it just means he might have had to refine the shape he builds in or accept that there are times his team won't be able to dominate possession (which Enzo also did, in games against Norwich, Southampton, etc.) Any of our fans that are convincing themselves that Cifuentes is going to be significantly faster attacking than Enzo was are going to be in for a shock come the start of the season. Especially if 95% of the teams in the league respond like they did last time and park the bus against us for 90 minutes. Did you watch the video you just linked? Listen to him talk, even watch the way he moves the "ball" around between the little tiles when he's talking about switching play. It's "Enzoball", or more accurately, it's Cruyffball. brookfox Posted 11 July 2025 Posted 11 July 2025 Assuming he comes in and goes with his preferred 433 the biggest area for him to address will be goals from midfield. You’d guess Winks will come back into the fold in the deep lying slot. Then of our current options there’s not many goals in Skipp, Ndidi or Bouba compared to say KDH last time we were down. Hopefully (but not optimistic) Bilal will stay and guess he may adapt Kasey to play in here. Still with Daka/Ayew being our main striking options it’s goals we appear to be lacking so can see the attraction of Brownhill.

Mavididi and Fatawu are two of our best players at this level so we need to be abusing opposition full back at every opportunity. This video is much more in depth than RVN's from what I remember, which was basically him talking about how much better the individual players he had were than what he was up against. Marti's video has actual principles and theories. I think he'll satisfy the group that weren't happy with Cooper's lack of coaching ability last season. Also interesting that he repeatedly says about the system and the tactics being reliant on the ability of the players he has access to. It stands to reason that he could look to ask for more from our group than he could from the QPR squad he had access to. Edited 11 July 2025 by Sol thewall Bamba 4

If i remember the RVN correctly, it was about a specific match.

A quick Google search suggests Brownhill turned down a new contract at Burnley, and is linked with Fiorentina, Everton, and West Ham. So basically we stand no chance.

Mavididi struggles to beat his man sometimes whereas Monga always looks effortless. Still a big fan of Mavididi though and hopefully they will both have good seasons (at the expense of Reid and Ayew).

I think if you have the players to use within a system, you utilise them to the best of the ability you have. It’s modern football 101 isn’t it? If you have the ball, the opponent can’t score. I don’t mind that personally. The droves hate it and want it old skool, long to a target man at pace! Many coaches adopt a similar philosophy as in a nutshell, to a degree you’re playing the odds. Let’s not pretend they play this way as it’s super exciting to watch. It decreases the chances of conceding, increases ball retention, gets the football into the areas that statistically generate the most chances and therefore overall improve your chance of winning a came of football. It’s like a game of chess. P.s, watched it the other day.
