They are, which is why continuing to play the CB pairing that is actively costing us points is a dreadful managerial decision regardless of getting bailed out today

Last 2 games we have dropped 4 points from individual mistakes from them, yet Nelson and Okoli have been banished for a poor 45 minutes in the cup

Yet this game we have picked up 3 points despite that, as our attackers are producing again. Isn’t that down to manager? Don’t forget one of these CB that people would chase away with torches is actually decent despite the mistakes.

If he gets rid of Vesty,Faes,Daka Hamza by the end of the season and brings in a few more of his players i will finally start to.love some of our players more and the club again.

Love Abdul, potentially love Mavadidi  when he's on form,  starting to love JJ so let's get some more young hungry players to start connecting with our club and fans.👍🏾

I really hope he’s learnt that Ayew isn’t the answer. Same with Skipp. Just keep them out of the side unless you really need to rotate.

We’ll drop points here and there but our fixtures up till Xmas don’t look too bad to me.

I really like Marti, thought he got it spot on today and he's learning with the players he's got what is his best team.

Only question marks for me are the complete lack of Ben Nelson in the team. We really need to be investing in someone of his talent. Second is the form of mavididi. He's probably in the worst form his been in since he joined the club so why is Martin getting less out of him compared to other managers?

Other than that, it's a work in progress for sure but we are generally improving.

Are we really claiming being bailed out by a Fatawu wonder goal, a great individual goal from Jordan and a defensive mistake as the manager getting the attackers producing?

How many actual high quality chances were created that weren't reliant on a moment of individual brilliance or an individual mistake? Even the other big chance was Carranza getting through clear because of a defensive mistake.

This is after creating 2 (TWO) shots on target over 180 minutes including a game against the team with one of the worst defences in the league

Today was better than previously, but winning a game doesn't immediately absolve the manager of the blame for his shortcomings. His team selections are questionable and they reek of short term thinking once again.

Going into today we ranked bottom 8 for both xG created and xG conceded, is that really the sign of a system that is working as intended given our aims this season?

Ok. It is still very early in his tenure and if you want to decide this is ever as good as it’s going to get, fine, I would prefer to think our direction of travel is towards improvement. If you are too impatient to wait and see and would rather pass a definitive judgment now, then that is a you problem.

Not really taken part in this thread, and I havent really even commented much on the manager in match threads either, other that I think he seems good at HT team talks.

I will say the same as I did when supporting Cooper, its too early to say he isnt up to the job.

I am even saying this as a fan who doesnt like possession being over done, and playing out the back with the opposition in your face, luckily the team seems to have a degree of freedom under Marti, it feels a lot less rigid compared to when we had Enzo.

So my take is I have no issue with him at the moment, we keep on going.

I think as it stands hes doing a relatively good job.

The squad isnt as good as last time we were in the championship and the fact we are in third and not running away with the league reflects that.

The football isn't stellar but hes got us just about where I would expect us to be.

Spot on yesterday. Everything we’ve been asking for he delivered… and just goes to show by leaving Ayew out of the staring 11, we’re much more of an attacking threat…..

Full of praise today, starting 11 was right and subs were good too.

I think he is learning but trying to give everyone the benefit of any doubt and so is perhaps changing things a little slower than some of us would like.

Some lovely triangles being played.  His biggest accolade so far is getting Winks back on side.  Him and Ricardo are just too good for this league, particularly together. Throw in James and it’s a great route from back to front.

Mavididi’s bad form started last season. Not under Marti

I really like Marty, he learns and adapts, doesn’t seem to suffer from the arrogance and stubbornness that dogged the last few managers.

He’s going about things the right way too - Everyone has a clean slate and is picked on merit. Which leads to picking the “senior” players, those with the career / signing fee / name and probably the most consistently good trainers… Perseveres for a few games, not instantly reacting to a poor 90 minutes

Then as Skipp / Ayew / Soumare show they’re not up to it drops the weakest link and evolves the side slowly. Within ten games he’s now playing quite a different side.

Sometimes fans can expect change too quickly, I think Marty’s getting it right

Absolutely … yesterday was a pleasure to watch the one touch triangles, and showed just how effective they can be

If he continues to bench Ayew and Soumaré on the bench, that will be a plus in his column. No issue with them coming on as subs if need be this season, but they should not be starters.

Again, a lack of Nelson in the squad is concerning. But otherwise I think he's working with what he's got.

It won't happen, but if we signed an actual striker and a superior left back in January, I think that would help Cifuentes immensely.

Get to January being in and around the top 3, and if a striker isn’t producing for him I think we need to go for someone else if possible

To clarify: do you mean go for a new striker, or a new manager? lol

At some point, we will see those players (Skipp, Soumare, Ayew, etc) again, as we cannot run a full season + cups + cover injuries, without involving them, let’s just try not wet ourselves when they are starting/subbed on.

Shouldn’t need saying, but this does not mean they are suddenly starters, as Marti seems to be settling on Winks/JJ, and for now, Jannik and Wout ( :dunno: )
