Marti has been banging on about people earning there spot, I think a lot of these still need to do so, which is why some of them are playing

Skipp and Soumare even though I’m not keen, balance wise is about the best we can hope for atm, but CM needs addressing badly.

New striker of course needed, but Ayew’s hold up and link up play has been better than Daka in pre season, so I’m content with his selection. 
 

Good line-up in some areas, meh in others. 

Marti has commented on high press on more than one occasion since being here.

 

Ayew is the antithesis of a player that can press.

 

I shouldn’t be surprised, we haven’t pressed collectively as a team in years 🤮

The problem is, Daka is better at pressing, but Ayew is better at hold up play and linking. 
 

Our new striker imo has to have the requirements to do both.

For the level we are at, that is a pretty strong team. And the bench as well. 
 

I mean, I don’t like most of them but on paper there are very few in the championship who could match that. 
 

Would’ve like to have seen Monga and Nelson start but still time for next week.

People are still thinking of friendlies as getting your starting 11 sorted, the game has changed it more of a squad game these days.

With Daka our only real option up front, I really would rather he gets minutes to up his confidence...

 

Would have loved to see Monga start again, but Mav does need minutes.

 

Skipp and Soumaré, plus Vestergaard behind them...not loving that.

 

Justin not being in the squad suggests he might be off? And Kristiansen has barely appeared so you'd hope he was too.

 

Overall, we'll see how it goes, but I'd hoped this was going to be an indication of our starting 11 for next week. Now I'm hoping it's not.

Didn’t we have Coady as captain the last game? Not sure it all means too much does it? Just fitness and some tactics and all that isn’t it? We’ll still be experimenting well into the season due to the late appointment.
