there were defintely not 16k fans in for Wigan, a fairly empty away corner won't help the total attendance figure but why are some here beating their meat on a 16k attendance? that is 50% full. Anyone who believes this waffle is off their rocker. 22-23k f or Wigan. 26-27k for Peterborough

When you think if there were 27k that's a whole 5k seats empty. you could fit another away end in? or move everyone and have the family stand completely empty? I think not....

Fairly empty away corner? Theres literally rows of like 4-5 empty seats between every couple of fans.

The numbers are accurate,  unless of course the club have lied and breached all of their security requirements.

I mean, you sound pretty bothered,  save your energy for your freedom of information request and prove us all wrong.

Until that point, keep posting your random unsubstantiated guesses.

Not sure many care tbh

You don't have to trust either figure,  but the actual attendance needs to be recorded at grounds with over 10,000 capacity. If you're doubting the accuracy of the 16.5k figure for Wigan, you're suggesting that the club is underreporting attendance, which is a criminal offense.

I mean it's just a fact that there were more than 16,000 people in the ground on Tuesday.

Anyone with eyes could tell you that.

Fact based on your estimate?

16.5K with Wigan having just shy of 600 would put the home end at 55% capacity.

Away end is 3,300

Home is 28,900.

There were less than 600 Wigan.

So around 15,900-16,000 in the home end hence the 55% home capacity figure.

Pretty plausible if you ask me. It was incredibly sparse across the ground.

Or is the club lying to authorities and emergency services then?

There's no way you honestly think the ground was 55% full in home areas. There is simply no way.

I don't think the club would lie to authorities, I just think whoever told you that the attendance was 16k was talking out of their arse.

For what its worth, no one has told me the attendance. Ive seen the figure written down...in black and white..on official documentation.

So yeah, you either believe the number or the club have, quite literally, lied to authorities.

I didn't go to match, I can't tell you what the attendance looked like, with the greatest respect, I couldn't really care either.

Ive literally told you the official number. If you want to believe it, or just continue to argue it, thats on you.

So this would suggest 7,000 season ticket holders at least decided not to go and there are 3,000+ that regularly don’t go?

Im inclined to agree with @AKCJ. It was definitely more than 20k in home end for Wigan. You get a sad knowledge for this kind of thing over time.

Just a thought - could they be getting the figures wrong and it have something to do with why they’re not reporting some attendances for days? The Oxford game hasn’t even been officially given. And even more bizarrely the exact same attendance was given for 2 home games.

Maybe the turnstiles aren’t giving an accurate figure. Wouldn’t put it past them with how shambolic it’s all been lately.

I've been to well over 300 games at the King Power with attendances ranging from in the hundreds to absolutely full. As you say, you get a sad knowledge for it and a good eye for guessing the attendance. It has been warped in the last couple of years by the fact the club clearly count STHs in the "official" attendance but even so, there's no chance that the ground was half empty on Tuesday. My group all said we were surprised by how many were there. Even the Wigan end was far more full than we assumed it would be.

You're saying they're lying with that figure and there's a special real figure that only the "emergency services" know about.

There's a special real figure that only the club and emergency services know about.

Why would they do that and why are you so vague about how you know that information? Pretty clear it's because it's a number made up.

Because they're legally obliged to record the special real figure.

There might well be. I don't work for the club or the emergency services so I'm not given access to this special, mysterious figure.

But I do know that there were more than 16k people in the ground on Tuesday night.

Doesn't really make sense for there to be a legal requirement to inform the emergency services of the full figure after the game because what's the use in that? Are we sure this 16k isn't an estimate or something along those lines?

If the club do provide these figures then we should just be grateful that they are providing some inside information to the outside world because they say **** all else.

I think it’s best we move on to another subject.

League One is a difficult sell. A division we should never be in means only winning regularly is acceptable and even that won't grab attention. 2008/09 is remembered for the away days and the fact it was one season and out.

I was told by stewards and they showed me the official text they received that the attendence was around 17k

It’s utterly ridiculous people are claiming 16k.

like someone said in the late noughties when we were bad for years on end there was 20k and it was often MUCH emptier than recent weeks

As much as I romanticise that season as the one which made me fall in love with LCFC, it was proper grim at times.

Still remember that Swindon home game, watching us limp to a 1-1 draw midwinter. Was in the family stand at the time and there were enough spare seats that we all moved to the back rows to stay out of the wind and sleet. Andy King got a late equaliser, probably the coldest I've ever felt at a match, the windchill was baltic and there was nothing to jump up for until the last 5 minutes.

Looking back at the stats it was under 20k that day, but we dropped as low as 16.5k for a midweek one against Stockport a few weeks later (which might actually be the game I'm remembering for the bad weather, was also a 1-1 draw)

More of that to enjoy this coming winter, folks!

Remember it not being much better the season after. There was one midweek game where Reading beat us and McGivern turned in one of worst performances ever. The stadium was utterly empty and dead

Most of these European countries haven't had their game completely ****ing destroyed by billionaires though.

It still slightly resembles what it's always been.

English football is absolutely nothing like what people loved and that completely effects the ability of those who recognise this (either consciously or subconsciously) to get vocal on the same level.

You know why? Because organised fan groups stand against that happening to their game. We'd still have the game we wanted if the kind of blokes who think ultras are shit had fought against that here.

You can't beat an English atmosphere at the top of it's game.

Nothing will ever get close to our UCL game against Sevilla. A stadium fully invested and willing their team on is a lot more powerful that a corner full of grown men in balaclavas jumping up and down, I'm sorry.

Agree. But that's so rare that it's a moot point. Even so, there's nowt wrong with being an organised group even if you prefer that style of support.
