Thanks for that.  He really does seem a near perfect fit for Marti’s system.  Can drift, acting as an 8, 10, false 9 and comfortable on the wing as well.

Seems to be able to unlock defences and bring the best out of other attacking players.  Would be a great player for Page to learn from and rotate with.

High wages, little chance of selling for profit.

The very fact that Celtic appear to think they can sign him means he would likely accept around £30k a week because they wouldn't be offering him much more than that and I doubt that they would be wasting time on a player who they know would demand more than they were willing to pay.

And yet Palace signed Edouard and allegedly tripled his wages to £90k a week.

That must be a fact as it’s been mentioned so many times on here that we paid his full weekly salary of £90k.

its true, it is.

Imagine he’ll only be signed as a replacement for El Khannouss. Maybe that’s where the talks stalled over the weekend - we might want to get a replacement lined up just like how Palace said they wanted Eze’s replacement lined up.

I'm not really following the relevance of your point, sorry.

I was simply saying that Stengs is likely to be willing to move for around £30k a week...

If we get him we definitely need someone for him to pass to and someone who can pass to him.  He'll be wasted otherwise.

Duck it go get his mate Myron Boadu anorl.

According to many on here we paid £90k a week to cover the cost of Edouard’d salary.

I always questioned the amount as Palace aren’t noted for being high payers and the they’d signed him from Celtic and I didn’t believe they were paying anything like that amount to him.

Your take that Stengs is unlikely to be offered anything more than £30k a week by Celtic may confirm my belief that Edouard was never on anything close to 90k a week.

Ah, got you.

I have no idea what Eddy was on at Palace but it's not out with the realms of possibility that they DID triple his wages if there was competition to sign him at the time.

Injuries last season aside, to say this would be anything other than a coup is a bit mad.

This is someone who played an integral role in Arne Slots final season (and has played for and been an integral part for him twice…)

Loan with an option if he stays fit all season, ****ing too right!!

On the subject though, he'd be great but a difficult one to make even if we were promoted.

It’s a pipe dream. Plus he’s gone to Saudi already, so that pretty much tells you what you need to know about him.

This was always the fear when we started making good sales was that we weren't going to be any better at buying. In the short term this transfer can backfire so easily when we really can not afford for it to backfire and in the long term he is guaranteed to be injured at some point.

This is a very Brendan Rodgers signing. "Broken player", 26 year old that was considered to have potential, is going cheap because hasn't delivered on it. The injuries help being the fee down.

In the words of John “Tony the Tiger” Rudkin, that GGGGRRRREEEEEAAAAAAAAAAT.

This is why it needs to be a loan deal. Any permanent deals need to be cleverly scouted players with major upside to them.

Is his salary that high? He’s one of the biggest earners at Feyenoord, but it’s still the Eridivisie, so looks to be on c. £40k. Surely we could match that with an increase in the event of promotion to closer to £50/60k isn’t blowing our budget out of the water.

Especially when the likes of Winks & Soumaré are stinking out the squad on close to £80k in the championship
