Few Mystic Meg's kicking around? Carranza has hardly been through the door five minutes and he's being written off. Keep your Lottery Numbers to yourselves.

It’s the FoxesTalk way lol

Not sure what people were expecting from a 4th choice attacker from the Dutch League. However, as others have said, he's hardly up to speed as yet and perhaps he may contribute with a few important goals as the season progresses.

I haven't judged him yet.  Would say it was a shame he didn't finish that chance Saturday & he was a bit mad at the Hawthorns.

But I am intrigued by that well used football term "he's hardly up to speed as yet"???

Now are these guys not professional sportspeople, so they are paid a lot more than us mere mortals even at this level to run around A LOT and he's been here 5-6 weeks..............understand team patterns, ideas etc. but overall fitness??

Back in the day I did a fair bit of running, after 5 weeks training probably 4-5 times per week for about 30-35 miles per week I was WAY fitter and faster.  Also to some extent don't the club want some immediate return??  James and Ramsey played against Oxford, really as soon as they got here.  So I just think Marti went with Ayew initially and now Patson, at the moment neither is scoring, when will Carranza start???

OR will he always be a sub?

Foxestalk - "We always pay over the odds for experienced players just here on the final pay day. Why don't we take a few risks and try and uncover the gems"

Also Foxestalk - "That loan looks really rusty and I dont care if he hasn't played a full 90 yet, he's f**king s**t"

Seriously, the change in direction from this forum from one day to the next is enough to give a man whiplash.

Give the guy a chance, I agree he looks off the pace, but maybe he'll come good. If not, he goes back at the end of the loan. This is how loans WORK.

Yes Kone was available, but for whatever reason the club didn't fancy him or he didn't want to come.

I think you can train and be as fit as you like, but match sharpness comes with playing. He also hasn't had the benefit of a pre-season with his new team mates, playing in a different country where the physicality required is greater along with just settling in to a new way of working and living could mean the transition takes longer. It's a bit like a boxer being ring rusty. You can put the hours in the gym and sparring, but actually boxing an opponent can be different.

Carranza hasn't just materialised out of the ether.  He has had a career and it is perfectly reasonable to judge whether you might think a particular player is good enough for what we need, based on what he has done to date.  It genuinely baffles me that some people cannot grasp this concept.

Just to be clear, please could someone direct me as to how much time must elapse before one is allowed an opinion?

Many thanks.

Why didnt you use Jordan James as an example lol

It was a poor loan signing on paper. Lad getting used to a completely new culture and level of football. Really odd choice for a short term signing. I feel sorry for the guy really. Hopefully we see a few moments of magic and he becomes a cult hero. But it really made no sense to me.

Signing bang average ageing players on long and big contracts is also dumb.

Its not one or the other.

More than 81 minutes, probably.

To be clear, I think it makes sense to be underwhelmed by the signing or not be particularly optimistic that he'll be any good based on his career to date. I don't however think it's unreasonable to say we might want to see him play at least one full match worth of minutes in our team before we have a good idea of how he useful he might be for our team. Players with good records have come here and done poorly just as players with comparatively poor records have come here and done quite well.

True.

If we signed Bamford I reckon people would have an opinion before he kicked a ball for us.

The reason I feel strongly about this is because of the unique predicament we were in.  Going into a new season with only one recognised striker and that striker having stunk the place out for four years.  I'd call that a crisis and yet we have done next to nothing to put that right despite having had months and months to plan for it.

So you're giving him 81mins across 3 or 4 sub appearances because of the boards incompetence?

It is hard to please though

We should stop paying huge fees for players. Woyo "remember him" Coulibaly

We should stop buying players that "know England/PL”. Julian "81mins, I've seen enough" Carranza

We should stop looking for managers that know England/PL. Marti "look at his track record, it's shite" Cifuentes.

Ultimately just needs someone to do a good job no matter what their fee/background etc

My concern is, he's had two glorious chances to open his account early on in his time here and that would have helped him settle down and hopefully build some confidence and form.

The longer it goes on without him scoring could easily scupper any positive impact he has here, seen it time and time again with loan players - especially strikers.

I can't keep repeating myself, but I will say it one last time.  I am not basing my disappointment at this signing on any minutes that he has played for us, not one,  but on the career he has played previously.  I see nothing on his resume and no outstanding attributes.  If you think this deadline day afterthought solves our striker crisis then I hope you're right and I'm wrong but I am beginning to think that your monicker might be ironic.

In any transfer thread in any window you will see various posters casting doubt on potential signings or indeed, the opposite of that.  What do you think those opinions are based on?
