The CEO is answerable to the Chairman who is answerable to the Board. The CEO can be overruled by one or both.

KP as a family were unprepared for the Accident and are unfit to run such a large Company in my opinion. Are now having to bring in outsiders now to run the business.

When the smart thing to do would have been to hunker down in the trenches after both the Accident and Covid , Consolidate and keep doing largely what got you to where you are.

It's why the CEO job is a poisoned chalice most of the time. When things are bad, it's all your fault. When things are going well, it's the great team and workforce you have behind you.

But as Clever Fox said, they are directly accountable to the Board, who can hire or fire them. So why is anyone really surprised that she could be undermined or ignored with the shareholder/Chairman set up LCFC has? When CEO's do throw their weight around, its usually where the Chair and Board are in awe of them and will let them do anything they want,  or else they get fired very quickly.

But Top still seems to think he's a savvy businessman and must run things. It's one of the biggest and repeated mistakes he makes. He was never going to let a CEO get on with it if they wanted to do something he disagreed with. Its why he stepped in briefly as CEO before appointing someone who owed their rise to him, from Finance Director to the CEO role.

Kevin isn't exactly making any waves, is he? There's been one statement from him, on his appointment, expressing his honour in leading the club. I've seen damn little evidence of his leadership. But instead of a thread about what Kevin is or is not doing in this leadership role, we have this zombie thread still mithering over what Whelan should or should not have done about a job she left last year.

We were not making good financial decisions with her as CEO. It's far too easy to say anything bad that's happened was her being overruled.

She made budgets

they were reliant on the director of football bringing in funds that he said he could and spending amounts that he agreed to.

when the dof and chairman continually move the goalposts on those two metrics, the rest of the finances fall apart ……….

She signs all his decisions off based on them finances too right?

i mean she’d be left with no choice

if he commits to bringing in x amount in fees and adjusting wage spend to y then how should she know that there aren’t other deals in the pipeline ?

and when deadline day arrives then the chairman has the final say on the budgets being tossed in the bin

Which is I assume why she resigned, any half decent CEO quits if there is interference.

Yes I agree and who could blame her.

A senior Government official said to me once, The best kind of Boards and Committees are one Man Leaderships with the support of the rest of them, provided it's the right Man or Woman in Leadership. More Progress and Work seems to get's done that way.
