Why are you so triggered by people using the phrase "happy clappers"? It's hardly a new phenomenon, it's be used for decades.

Because it’s always used as an insult to fans who object to booing their own players. I don’t see the relevance in the post mentioned.

That was an enjoyable watch. No complaints at all with the pen, why is Faes launching in there? And the happy clappers have designated ‘VAR is killing modern football mate’ so I can’t understand the problem with the ref giving that. Goals very well taken

Other than Faes clearly played the ball onto the Swansea player. Not even a corner, let alone a penalty

The ‘problem’ with the ref giving a penalty was that it was a very good and perfectly fair tackle. Faes did nothing wrong whatsoever. So yeah, I have a few complaints about it…

Well done lads, JJ get the lad signed up, great strike from him, could easily be a much needed leader/captain in the future for us.

Abdul, the boy is magic, the last time I saw someone cut in that effortlessly with deadly finishing was Riyad.

Jordan James reminded me of Stevie G yesterday. Unlucky not to get a second.

Very strong presence, dominating, leadership qualities. That's two goals in two games now – from a central midfielder.

We've been lacking that goalscoring threat in the middle for quite a while – Winks couldn't do it, and neither could Skipp or Soumaré. Maybe this acts as encouragement.

I'm slightly concerned that we continue to fail to seal a win early on against lacklustre opposition.

And our strikers continue to disappoint. Daka for years, and Carranza, who has the benefit of not having cost £23m, missed a sitter yesterday. I do hope he adapts to the league sooner than later.

Vestergaard is joint top scorer with Fatawu, correct? That says it all.

Faes is the biggest liability in this squad, puts the one-goal advantage into jeopardy recklessly with his showing-off. It doesn't matter whether the referee had a stinker with the penalty decision – you don't tackle like that in your own box. There was no need for it.

Other than that, I'm glad Ramsey didn't get sent off again. lol

The rest of the field players were solid, some a bit anonymous (De Cordova-Reid, I'm looking at you).

Two weeks time to work on some of the basics, and decide on a starting XI.

I like many others saw him flying in and thought ‘penalty’. Fair decision to make. The happy clappers have stated that ‘var is a shambles mates it’s killing modern football mate’ - well stfu and deal with it then. Mistakes happen when you hate tech and want to live in the stone ages.

Aside from the last 15 mins of the first half I thought we were very comfortable.

Could arguably have scored 5 or 6 and Swanseas penalty was a joke of a decision.

Winks and James are a great partnership and Fatawu looked back to his best. Happy with Daka, I stand by it that we look better as a team when he plays.

Only change I would make for Pompey is Ramsey for BDCR.

There are no circumstances in which a wrongly awarded penalty can be regarded as ‘fair’. The fact that you also saw it wrong doesn’t change that.

The reason VAR was brought in at higher levels of the game was to deal with terrible decisions like yesterday’s. And it’s not going away.

If Ben Nelson made that challenge everyone would be saying how hard done by he was. Faes and Vestergaard are in a position where they can't change opinions, and most of the time I'd agree. But nothing wrong with the tackle and its a horrible decision.

Bashing Faes and Vestargaard is a local FoxesTalk pastime…

Not the best performance, but a good result on the road. Loved the togetherness from the team.

The day was sadly overshadowed as the Swansea Police and stewards were shocking. We got spat on, punches thrown at us, helicopter signs etc. all whilst they stood back and did nothing. I tried to report to the Police and got told that it was to be expected, was 50/50 and asked what do we expect with our fans being ‘gobshites’.

Missed that was stuck in traffic, and driver had to take break, got there for 3.30, was worth it what l watch.

Exactly. So if you want to get rid of human errors, bring in the technology.
Happy clappers want ‘real’ football, so accept decisions like yesterday’s are part of the game. Just like they were in the 80s when football was unbelievably simply incredibly amazing and REAL

Because it’s usually used as a derisory term to describe fans who do not subscribe to the practice of booing their own players. Don’t know how many decades it’s been used but I’ve only ever seen it on here in the past few seasons.

Huh?
Cov, Boro, Preston, Stoke (and Ipswich for now) all have a better defensive record. Even Charlton sit on eight goals conceded.

Faes didn't even play in the starting lineup in August.
I'd argue the pairing of Vestergaard and Okoli is the better one.

I'm not disagreeing with you about him flying in, but the fact is the ref got it wrong. It was a perfectly good tackle and should have been a goal kick and yes ref's make mistakes, but had we drawn 1-1, I think this would have been a much bigger talking point.

Of course there is something wrong with that challenge.

It’s not like he was within the 6-yard box. A sensible defender uses their body to ease him out of play. At absolute worse he scuffs a cross into the box and it’s cleared / gathered by Jakub. More than likely he wouldn’t have got there and sliced the ball out of play whilst being off balance.

Its brain dead and unnecessary. He’s gone for glory and it’s backfired.

If Ricardo had done it we'd be backing him 100%

I didn’t think it was a foul.
