Susan Whelan left 132 days ago. It has now been 93 days since Top announced the club were looking to appoint a technical director of football, and 21 days have passed without a permanent first-team manager, with no appointment expected any time soon.

This situation is becoming increasingly serious. It has reached the point where some external voices are now joining supporters in openly criticising the ownership.

A club already struggling to keep its head above water cannot afford drift at executive or managerial level. If decisive action does not come soon, this period risks causing lasting damage rather us getting out of our current position.

This just doesn't happen at other clubs. Most have a replacement within a week. Like everything else to do with the club, we're just comatosed

You only have to compare it to Blackburn - one of the most miserable clubs in England with hated owners.

And they're still well ahead of us in this regard.

There are no words to describe how inept this lot are. It should be impossible to be this bad.

I’ve ran out of words now, you’d expect a strong link in the press by now, but nothing. Find it weird there isn’t noise around us not having a manager lined up!

why is it so quiet regardless of what the clubs doing?

Take it the "ambitious " manager we were after turned us down then .

Every time I think we can't be run any worse, I'm surprised.

What the actual fvck is happening?

Genuine question - are there any other examples in recent history of a club sacking the manager and putting a very obvious caretaker in charge who himself has said he has no ambitions of taking over, only for the managerial search to take 3 weeks (and counting)?

There are seemingly no solid links to anyone, so the likelihood is our search, mid-season, during a relegation battle, will have taken over a month.

Unbelievable incompetence.

Could it be the upper "management and board" are as inept as we believe or worse??? I mean surely a DOF as great as Rudkin could sweet talk another 3 or 4 caretakers... and our "owner" is backed by unlimited funding, he even gets managers to buy their way out of previous contracts...

If, over the past two years,  we'd selected a different guest manager off this forum by a random draw each match week I don't think we'd have done any worse than under the management appointed by the club

In Jon we trust

I'm starting to think that we can't afford a new manager. Why is it taking so long?

Top's promises. We'll get a new CEO...132 days later and nothing.

A new technical director is close. Still nothing.

The need for a new manager in a relegation battle. 3 weeks and still nothing.

Better communication to the fans - 2 crappy generic interviews and then silence on what is happening.

I think we're financially that screwed that we can't do anything. We are league 1 bound. It's basically 2 clowns running a professional football club and neither know what they are doing!!! They are running the club into the ground in front of us. Players with the mentality of a dry fish and a guy who doesn't want to manage us who is being left all alone to to try to sort it out and it's just not working.

I'm of the belief the players know something about the club. Know we're fooked so lack motivation to get going.

Does any of this scream competency and the ability to avoid relegation?? Not for me. We could finish below Oxford at this rate!

No-one wants it and I can’t blame them.

We’ve not hired an employed manager since  BR (Enzo was a coach). It’s clear we’re only going for unemployed managers so why we’ve not got one is down to one reason.

People in football talk. I can guarantee that the sh1tshow behind the scenes is well known to all possible candidates and we’re unable to attract anyone.

We’re going to have either offer a huge salary or bonus to a potential manager or go from someone right at the bottom of our list who we wouldn’t normally look at. Whatever happens it isn’t going to be pretty.

Agree with this completely, your only chance is that a decent ish manager like a Rowett or someone younger of that stature sees it as an opportunity to manage a club of our size, if it goes wrong not their fault due to what’s going on behind the scenes, if it works it enhances their reputation.

Think that’s the only way we get someone.

Problem is that Top has massive delusions of grandeur.  They have form for it, just look at the early years when they let Nigel go to Hull and appointed Paulo Sousa, then Sven before eating humble pie and getting him back in. Add to that John Rudkin who is massively limited and Glover who is tied to his mates agencies where he may get a kick back!

I also think Top is sulking because he can’t have what he wants, We promote! No we bottom 3 ****wit!

I agree with a lot of what you have said. What annoys me is that some of these players are being paid salaries they could only dream of getting elsewhere yet they show no pride or professionalism. It is in their interest to keep the gravy as warm as possible, unless they want us in administration and then they can walk away. At the moment I would not want to sign any of our senior pros.

It is sad what the club has been allowed to become.

I'm convinced at this stage that were just being used as a social experiment to see how loyal fans can be whilst being completely taken the piss out of and disrespected

If this is the case why sack Marti? It makes absolutely no sense.

3 years ago at leicester city when Rodgers was sacked and 2 PE teachers from the local college took over. The SAS. Sadler and Stowell.

No manager will take on this shitshow.

At this rate the club won't survive long enough to make it to League 2.

It's incomprehensible isn't it?

This shambles, this absolute diabolical running of our club must be close to, if not actually beyond, the most catastrophic examples in sporting history.

It's unfathomable unless, that is, its being done on purpose.

Why? I've absolutely no idea, but it's a scenario that totally fits all the evidence of the last 4 or even 5 years.

There are numerous issues at the moment, obviously, but the fact that we are still without a manager is absolutely astounding.

A relegation rival has sacked a current and installed a new manager while we've been ****ing around hoping King would get a win or two.

The exact same mistake that was made in 22/23. An absolute shambles. Nothing has been learnt by these utter morons.

I dont think this lack of managerial appointment will be a financial related issue. I imagine we are still trying to push this heavily possession based style at all costs ruling the likes of Rowett out or them ruling themselves out because what we are asking isnt within their philosophy, i.e Cooper trying to enforce the possession based approach.

I also dont agree people wont want the role. While everything around us is seemingly toxic, there will be plenty who will have that self belief they can be the ones to turn it around, despite what the evidence says. The issue you will have is once they actually sit in front of our esteemed leadership, will they still want to work under them? And if they do, does their face fit for how the club wants them to play and coach this side?

If it is really as bad as that we really are you in bigger trouble than I thought.
