How do you know King in particular has had a negative influence? 

I don’t know for sure - but the fact is he’s been part of the coaching staff that has overseen the biggest decline ever in the history of our club, he only gets a pass because he’s a club legend. 
 

We haven’t got the time or the money for him to be sucking a decent wedge every year, we need a reset in all departments and he isn’t immune from that.

1. He’s won everything with us, probably knows a thing or two about standards and culture. He can’t change this all on his own. 
2. he’s being judged in a terrible period for the club, he’s still so young in his coaching career. 
3. Highly respected around the club 

4. It’s incredibly difficult to thrive here at the moment, it doesn’t mean he won’t be a very good coach for us in the future. 
5. excellent for the younger players (will be extra important next season) 

6. genuinely cares which hasn’t been a given in recent years for other people.

I'm not suggesting we offer him the manager job or anything, but all these negative comments were also made about Brian Barry Murphy at the end of last season and he's done alright for himself.

 

There's alot wrong with the club, but I don't think Andy king is it. The fact he's tried to put out a statement and apologise for being part of the shit show is a measure of the man he is. He's not hiding, he didn't need to say anything and he probably knows better than anyone what is wrong with the club, but he's also.not in the position to put it right.

A few here are taking that view, but nobody has pointed out that he didn't have to accept that responsibility and would have shown better judgement (and more concern for the good of the club) if he'd said "no".

No one, absolutely no one could have cleared up the shitshow this season. The club employed a blithering idiot with no football management skill whatsoever, late. After several months of the blithering idiot progressively making everything worse and being bottom of several key metrics, we sacked the idiot, they had a period of delay before employing another idiot.

I think he's talking about Cifuentes and Rowett (with the period of delay being when King was "in charge"). That's what it reads to me.

 

For my opinion, this whole coaching staff should have gone. It is a disgrace they've all played a part in overseeing us relegated to the third tier for only the second time. People defending King purely because he's a hero to them.

Andy King. A club great. A coach learning his trade. Not manager material. Don't think he ever will be. I thank him for all the memorable moments he's given me.

You can respect King the player but have doubts over his ability/intentions as a coach.

 

He’s inexperienced but has been part of various coaching set-ups that have commented on the “culture” yet done nothing to change it.

 

The biggest thing for me with our next appointment, clear the decks from a coaching perspective as they’ve underperformed, if King is deemed good enough to keep on, great!

 

If not, thanks for the memories but let’s move forward.

I do respect King. I am not sure as a junior coach you are going to go in all guns blazing and tell a supposedly senior ‘coach’ like Cifuentes or Rowett that they are ****ing useless tossers. No blame can really be put on king imo.

I see your point, but he has the opportunity during his short caretaker stint to shake things up.

 

No attempt to change or at least tweak some of the glaringly obvious problems from the previous manager, like reviewing team selections, change a stagnant , predictable starting formation that had yielded mainly problems, and not opportunities to cause the opposition problems. Adopt a more direct style and move away from the tippy happy still seeping into our play.

 

No, all he did was churn out more the same cr@p, continue picking the same cr@p starting 11, adopt the same 4231 formation. To all intent and purposes a carbon copy of what got Marti the sack.

 

When he could have gone 4132, dropped the dross like Thomas, BdDR, Ayew and a past his best Ricky P etc for some youth, and tried a more direct style or even roll back time and try and counter attack.  Ok it may have failed miserably, but we'll never know. But what we do know is he  did if we are being honest bugger all and that's what we got in return

Thing is I think a lot of the way we play is dictated by Rudkin, I’m not sure the managers have much say which is why we struggle to attract managers and the ones we have don’t change much. We haven’t really changed for 2 years, despite it evidently not working. It feels more than a manager/coach problem.
