Us having back to back relegations will be better for us in the long run.

Very tough for those who say we were in League One once.

Whilst we have some talent in our academy; so does everyone else.

We can not continue down this path that King Power believe, we can be successful through pure academy products and minimal investment elsewhere, just because we got our fingers burnt with a few crap purchases.

It's definitely possible to be successful through predominately academy players, whether I think we are able to actually follow that kind of structure is another point. You'd also usually expect it to be a mixture of ages though, a group of senior pros that came through whilst continuing to integrate the next group.

What's their argument going to be if we do go down then? Cause it'll be twice then lol no doubt they'll come out with it wasn't Top fault and do you know we were in League One twice.

Losing soyuncu isn't talked about enough

Hot take on the contrary, Prime and fit Jonny Evans made Soyuncu look good at the time.

My hot take, is that over the next 5 years our fan base will drop to the lowest it’s ever been.

The fair weather fans will disappear. Theres not been a focus on young families and we’ve lost a generation through overly expensive tickets and lack of availability.

The loyal base that would have been here through all the tough days have had enough and have been pushed too far.  It’s hard to find any fan who’s not simply apathetic among us.  I think the club will have a huge shock coming its way if we don’t find a way to reenergize the fan base. Because the last time we went down to league 1, yes the football wasn’t the best for a decade but we all still enjoyed ourselves and felt attachment to our club. Right now, the ones that would keep the lights on are being pushed away

Claude Puel would have us winning again….and was sacked because Vardy personally didn’t like him.

he was sacked because we were getting battered by the likes of palace 5 -1 and heading for relegation.

Claude Puel fascinates me because it feels like every single post about him on this forum, positive and negative, is wrong. He is to Leicester fans what the EU is to British journalists.

We were 12th weren't we when he was sacked, we were proper shite and boring to watch though

I think this is very accurate.

They’ve alienated too many fans ‘types’ amongst our demographic

’Blokes in black jackets’ at Warsaw away type

Single tickets not being sold

Football bans for ridiculous reasons

Families- too expensive

The away tickets ID idea

And generally pissed off everyone else who genuinely gives a flying fcuk about the club on and off the pitch

When you look at trends in society I think most clubs' fanbases will slowly dwindle over time. Maybe in 15-20 years there'll just be a few that can attract big crowds, most of which will be tourists.

i know 12th sounds high but im sure we wasn't that far off 18th, and we were on a losing streak.

We were 8 points off 18th. I guess the point is that Puel would be a better fit now than Marti. It is a hot take and not meant to be taken 100 percent with a straight face but in hindsight  without Puel there’s a strong argument that we don’t win the FA Cup, or really reach the peak we were at in the years after. He brought in Tielemans, Maddison, Evan’s, Cags, Ricky P, integrated Barnes into the team and really improved Maguire into a better player. His Achilles was his lack of strong communication skills with the players and the supporters. Had Vardy liked him he would have been given a lot more slack, like Rodger’s. But he did a good job changing the squad and given the challenges we face now I don’t think it’s silly saying we need that type of squad overhauling skill set. Not exonerating his flaws or wishing him back just adding perspective,

Soumare is one of the most mismanaged players we’ve ever had. Could easily be a consistent performer in the Premier League under the right manager/team with his attributes.

:frusty::frusty::frusty::frusty:

That is like saying that Wout is the heart and soul of our team.

Not sure about that. He was self sabotaging and had no interest in trying to keep us up. If he hadn't spent the whole season acting like a petulant bell end because he didn't get any money to spend in the summer, then we'd have been nowhere near a relegation battle. Getting relegated with players like Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans in the team is wild! Picking Ward over Iversen for as long as he did was a huge factor in our relegation. Iversen would not have conceded the horrendous goals Ward did and that could have given us a few extra points.

Also letting Kasper go was a huge mistake. He’d still get in our side now at 39, and one of few genuine leaders we had.

We won’t fall to the lows of David Pleat’s latter years when average home attendance was less than 12k (1990-91.)

Yeh the loss of leadership in the squad starting with Morgan, Fuchs, Huth and then Kasper has never been replaced. Especially in the championship, you don't always need all the best players, you need fighters and leaders, 2 things we are desperately lacking in our squad.
