So if the decision is a financial one fair enough, but surely that applies regardless of how well the team are doing or not ?

For some, going to the football is a top priority for others it isn’t, and over the years the level of priority changes for some due to circumstances

However the problem with this message board is many posters will not accept that other fellow fans are different to their own circumstances and are therefore wrong.

How about listening to others views and respecting them, not slagging them off because they don’t think & act like you

Respectfully, what are you on about?

Where have I ‘not listened to others views’ or ‘slagged anyone off for not thinking and acting like me’.

I was responding to a post that was doing those things, criticising people who don’t attend as not proper fans. I was presenting the counter points as to why people don’t so was demonstrating how football is not the same priority for some. And for good measure, demonstrated through my own example how that priority changed from when I was younger…..

So really not sure how you have managed to come to the conclusion of that reply in response lol

In terms of your first paragraph around financial constraints applying regardless. Well yes, of course. But to think people’s priorities won’t shift based on what they are getting back in terms of what is being served up on the pitch is a nice thought, but not reality.

What you are seeing is people showing more of a customer/consumer approach. Not getting the service so not paying. Hardly unexpected when the club treats us as customers and not fans right?

What was the actual attendance? The PA fella didn’t announce it at the end which I found interesting…. Would be great if they could say how many were still in at the end too!

I'd guess at 24k at KO, looking at the pictures probably 20k.

Sorry to clarify the “you” wasn’t meaning yourself specifically but the “you” as in any poster who criticises other fans

Not getting the service so not paying isn’t really what’s happening though is it, as many no shows are ST holders who have paid but aren’t showing up

Suspect some renewed to keep their seats to watch Liverpool & Arsenal etc next season, as they did when previously relegated but we kept winning then so showed up under Enzo, but can’t be bothered now - so the club is only losing out on potential on the day purchases finance wise

Yeah this is fair.

I agree with your point about keeping it ‘for’ the better times. Obviously it is true that people have still paid. I’m sure there are people who paid hoping for better but have just got to the point that they can’t change the fact they have already paid, but are making the point in the hope a lot of empty seats (per the thread name), draw attention to force change.

My view is, as I said above, I do think people withdrawing their money and not buying tickets (be that match or season) will mean we get to a point that change is quicker. However, I don’t expect everybody to give up going or get to the same stage of disillusionment at the same time. So I respect those who still go.

However, I will not accept people saying those who don’t go aren’t real supporters or don’t care deeply for the club as like you even say, everyone has their own views, priorities and way of showing their dissatisfaction.

Ultimately we have a very divided fan base, each attacking the other. Meanwhile, the people who have caused it probably love the fact this distracts from the actual issues.

But he wants us to be closer !!

it’s just rhetoric that has lasted a couple of weeks. which is what we all expected

Turn up, greet the fans and bugger off again.

Aiyawatt - give it up lad !! We’ve all seen enough

A fair observation and the so called supporters groups swallowed it hook line and sinker. A momentary PR exercise to make it look like something was being done. No wonder nothing gets done all the decisions are on the bottom of the pile in Bangkok.

They waged war on our most loyal fans for 15 years chasing corporates and tourists.

They deserve every single empty seat.

Not something I’d considered in this context, but absolutely true!

Apparently it was 28,834.     That includes lots of fairies ...

Thats the exact thing a dictatorship would have you believe.

Not a chance there was 28k + there

We always get about 22k for season ticket attendance, I believe they are counted whether they turn up or not.  24-25k more realistic from what I observed, that would be my guess. Can't believe it's anywhere near 28k.

Probably less than 20k from what I've seen on TV after half time, as I was one that left, so didn't witness it first hand.

Love the empty seats   Shows the club it’s too expensive for the football offered.
wait till January when they start dishing out tickets for £25 instead of £35 and it still be empty.

I thought it was a well known fact that attendances are stated as tickets sold?

Looks no more than 22k at the start and about 8k at the end.
The Boro crowd a couple of games ago would fit into old Filbo with loads of spare seats.

I remember the days they used to call to try and get me to buy a ticket, sometimes offered a freebie gift.  ;-) We'll be back to that soon.

Yep.  They also used to write to you offering cheapo tickets for your birthday with a guest if i remember right  (decent reduction whatever the actual amount was).  That was a win win.  Fans felt like it was a decent gesture from the club and the club got a few quid for a ticket they may not have otherwise sold.  This was pre king power though, obviously.

Well this is it...charging nearly £40 for sub standard football + the membership fee. Quick look suggests Sheff United are charging £30 for our equivalent fixture.

This is what happens in Championship and below. Very few grounds are full, unless a typically lower tier club is on the up (Lincoln, Wrexham, Stockport etc). KP are in for a bit of a shock, if they think attendances will remain as they were.

Always baffles me that clubs charge as much as they do for empty stadiums.

I wonder what the majority would accept?

Cheaper tickets, easier access to tickets but low level championship or league 1 football.

Or premier league football where all of the above would dissapear.

A fun addendum to my post: Bolton charge £10 for an adult ticket for League One vs Bradford.

Burton charging £19 vs Northampton.

Seems like League One is anywhere between £10-£22 for a ticket. Defo a rude awakening for KP if they preside over successive relegations.

I notice the club don’t  currently chase you up with irritating emails if you don’t attend reminding you about the option to sell or forward them.

I didn’t bother with yesterday, watched in pub, but camera panned round and it was evident how empty it was. That was before the 3 goals when it started emptying more. Hopefully this gets through to them if it continues.

They aren't reselling. If people wanted to go, they would find a way.

We discouraged many from getting involved when we were strong and successful- guess what, they don't want to get involved in this dire situation instead. Corporate sections are sparsely populated. The tourist element aren't bothered by lower half second division football.
