The thing is, we wont know unless we give this lad a try.  We have seen enough of him doing well on loan to give him a preseason run and a spot in the squad for next season.

He cant be much worse than some of the crap we have in midfield these days

I could see he was a player when Rodgers brought him on in a cup match maybe Watford at home? Wanted to get on it immediately and pinged it left and right. He’ll do fine.

I was impressed v Notts County but not so much v Burton and Ipswich. Absolutely not writing him off, and willing to let him develop , but want to see his ability shine through - which I get must be difficult at times with the clowns around him. He could do with becoming more physical as well, but I doubt that will happen with his stature.

Rooting for you Sammy!

Not really lived up to the hype in the 4 games so far. Gets muscled off the ball too easily, passing not as good as I thought it would be. Really hope he kicks on, obviously doesn't help having players like Skipp playing along side him. Needs to be persevered with though.

What hype? He progressing up from L2 and had his first competitive start a few games ago. At time looked very good, and lots if improving to do.

I thought he was very good again tonight.

Very? Or just good? I could just about understand good from academy aficionado‘s like yourself 😜

To clarify I didn’t say he had a bad game, just not as impressive as Notts County.

I mean the hype he got last season, in the L2 team of the season. Rave reviews from fans of teams he played for. Just not seeing it yet, hopefully it will come.

He’s just done ‘OK’ for me so far this season.

Reckon he’ll get better and better through the season though as you can see the ability is there.

Agreed. Need to see more of him. All too often I think he's playing the easy ball. He has the quality and I want to see him being the difference maker I think he can be.

He's certainly struggled with the physical side against Burton.

1st half very good, 2nd half decent. Funnily enough i've never seen him as a box to box 8 like he is being asked to play so he's impressed me that he's doing it as well as he is. He's a deep lying 6 which we don't currently have an alternative adequate one.

Defo being played in the wrong position. You want to see him breaking lines with passes and when carrying it.

I don't think he's been great so far but one noticeable difference with him and Page from the rest, is that will absolutely play a 1 touch pass when needed. Makes a big difference

Still would like to see him play 6 and Page in his role.

My only worry with him so far (admittedly only Burton game in person) is the lack of physicality. Thought he was bullied by the Burton lads in midfield, but having Skipp

or Choudhury alongside you doesn’t help! Plenty of encouraging signs, but could do with a physical presence along side him. Sounds like he worked well with Page alongside him tonight

I bet those teams were not so rigid in this style of play.

It kills a bit of flair, or direct attacking. The things you expect to see from midfielders. My first glimpses of him were hes good, he recieves the ball on the half turn, drives forward before releasing the ball, gets the team moving in the right direction... but alas Genoa aside, hes becoming more immobile, with each game just slighty.... give it a season and he wil be skipp 2.0, if we are not careful

I thought he was very good again his ability to see and execute a pass in tight spaces is exceptional, thought it made a massive difference him and Page being in the areas where we usually find Skipp, no coincidence that we were able to move the ball quicker and with more purpose from deep and look to take advantage of good movement and potential overloads higher up the pitch.

Thought he also got into some really promising areas higher up the pitch as well. Impressed me again.

He doesn't look strong enough. Thought he was okay at County but seemed to get bullied and beaten easily against Burton. I think he needs someone strong and experienced alongside him, a bit how King was alongside Oakley last time we were at this level. People keep suggesting Braybrooke and Page but I can't see how that works.

Named in the PFA League 2 Team of the Year.

I think he's been great so far this season. Getting him to sign a new contract should be as much as a priority as getting rid of the absolute dross we still have here.

Do you think signing a new contract now is a priority? He needs some time to prove his fitness and if he can cut it at this level, if by miracle we go up I don't think he will cut it a Championship level, from what we've seen so far. Would be fine off the bench
