Clayton Taylor, available on a free as left Newcastle Jets this summer. @ACF thoughts? Decent return last season with 9 goals.

As you said, decent return in a good team who finished top of the table and lost out on penalties in the semis of the finals series. That Newcastle team were really well managed by Mark Milligan that I would be wanting us to monitor fairly closely as I think he’s going to be a very good manager. Taylor’s linked with a move overseas for a couple of years, he definitely wasn’t released by Newcastle he’s just off to pastures new, but I put down a lot of his success to Milligan and how he’s driven that club forward.

He’s a striker who plays off the wing, rather than a playmaker. Both times I saw him live this season I wasn’t that impressed, but I’d say the Melb City fullbacks were very strong this year.

If he does come and play on the wing at Barnsley, I’d be worried about his defensive efforts, and he would go missing a fair bit. Still would get chances.

Theres something there that needs some refinement, but wouldn’t be top of my list for A-League talents (Marcus Younis, Caputo, Luka Jovanovic, Ethan Alagich, Patrick Beach (who we’ve now got no chance at), Schreiber).

I’m getting quite accustomed to seeing all those with any quality going for free to other teams secure in the knowledge that we will be there to sift through everybody else’s rejects and probably paying over the top for their services. We do it every year :dunno:

Jovanovic looks an interesting player.

Really come on this year. I prefer Caputo but that’s admittedly that’s personal bias.

Have to remember these Aussie kids are playing in the middle of summer as well. It’s hard work out in the A-League, it’s hot, it’s very physical, and the CBs are all 30+ year olds who are happy to run through you.

Marcus Younis would be a good Championship player and probably should’ve been at the World Cup. He’s back at Brondby after his loan spell finished but he’s someone who just needs game time and has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. He’d be far and away the better choice over Taylor and I don’t think he’d mind the fact we’re in League 1. 20 years old, 8 goals in 15 from the RW.

I’ve also unbelievably omitted Okon-Engstler but he’s definitely not coming to a League 1 team.

You would imagine the next few weeks are going to be crazy with ins and outs - pre season is literally around the corner and not over egging it to much surely there needs to be around 10 out and as many as that in - that’s 20 transfers in the next 4-6 weeks - we’ve never been able to manage more than 1 at a time and been crap at that so the next few weeks are going to be ridiculous

We need to get into the K-J leagues respectively. There’s some unpolished gems in those leagues waiting to be unearthed. One of the main reasons Birmingham did so well in league 1…. I would like around South America too and now try and emulate what Brighton do in the market, now is the time to start scouting properly.

Noah Naujoks - 10 goals in the Eredivisie last season, can play a mixture of striker and attacking midfielder, ranked highly in the metrics that Martin usually goes for in a striker, good numbers for possession and defensive contributions.

We should be on this

Any striker we sign this summer needs to be 6ft or taller. If Chapline is coming in and the likes of Evans and Hutchinson get a chance, they are all quite small and similar players.

You’d think given how Vardy’s rise and achievements were all down to Aiyawatt and how Aiyawatt knew he’d reach the levels he did when he was working in a factory in Sheffield (), that’d he’d be all over this kid wouldn’t you!

Elijah Just looks like a decent player for New Zealand. From what I have read he is being linked with a number of clubs including Celtic and Rangers. Not sure if the lure to come here would be very big but if the price was right he might be worth a punt

Hourihane on Keillor-Dunn

"He's a big part and a big vocal point of what we do," Hourihane said of the striker in November. "He connects the game really, really well for us. He's different to some number nine's at this level where he comes to feet, drops in and connects the game well.

The type of striker that Russell usually goes for. Some of Keillor-Dunn’s possession stats coincide with the strikers Martin had at Southampton, in particular for passes received and link up play.
