Leicester City Complete Jamaal Lascelles Signing

We have completed the signing of experienced defender Jamaal Lascelles, who joins us until the end of the 2025/26 season, subject to league approval.

The 32-year-old arrives with a wealth of top-flight experience, having spent a decade in the Premier League and captaining Newcastle United across multiple seasons. A commanding presence at the back, he adds defensive strength, leadership and know-how to our squad at a key stage of the campaign.

Speaking to Foxes Hub, Lascelles said: “I’m buzzing to get through the door. It’s a great setup here, huge support, the facilities are fantastic. I just can’t wait to help out as much as I can, try to push us up the league and meet the boys tomorrow.”

The Derbyshire-born defender began his professional career with Nottingham Forest after progressing through their academy. His breakthrough season with Forest came in 2013/14, where he impressed across 29 Championship appearances to earn a move to Newcastle United, which also saw him loaned back to the City Ground for an additional season.

His Newcastle bow came in the 2015/16 season, and he would go on to make over 250 appearances in all competitions over the following 11 years with the Magpies. During his time on Tyneside, he became club captain and a significant figure for the team – winning the Club’s Player of the Season Award in 2017/18 and featuring in the team’s 2023/24 UEFA Champions League campaign.

He will now link up with his new team-mates at Seagrave for preparations ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture away at Birmingham City (3:01pm kick-off).

Loving the little georgie "yee naaa" and "Tomorra" did wonder what 10 years might have done to him lol

He’s physically strong

something we’re sadly lacking 1 to 11

keeper  weak in contact

full backs - weak

centre backs - weak

midfiled - weak

strikers - weak

wingers - weak

It’s no surprise that without being prepared to run further than the opposition that we’re coming out second most weeks.  We can’t complete in physical battles so unless you’re able to put more effort in then you’re going to lose without some luck rescuing you.

Even if you don't get the minutes out of him we desire, the personality this is going to bring to the dressing room for 6 months is entirely different to anything we have. He's going to bang some heads together, we don't have any of that.

Slight worries over his fitness but by all accounts he's a proper leader. Not like the podcaster.

The sort of signing we used to make.
