apart from any of the home nations would you most like to host a future World Cup?

In Europe, Italy.

Big regret not going to Italia 90.

Elsewhere, Argentina.

Would probably be my two choices. Chile as a more esoteric pick. A Levantine World Cup encompassing Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt would be great but would probably end up in open warfare, which to be fair would add a touch of spiciness to the proceedings.

Balkan world cup would be good just preferably without the Croats.

We just drew North Macedonia in the nations league and was fancying a wee jaunt across the balkans for a week.

Fixtures came out today and it's the 1 date I can't manage.

Do the jaunt anyway! Unmissable part of the world.

Spain. Big support and stadiums in places as far apart as Seville, Barcelona, Madrid, La Corunna and Bilbao. Plenty of hotel and transport networks to cope with tourist numbers. Good value tapas and wine for before the match, and plenty of nightlife too. Only downside is it can be a little too hot peak summer even if the matches are played at 11pm.

Feel like a Australia/NZ should be next on the agenda.

Love me an early kick off, anyway, but criminal that we're handing out repeat world cups to countries having not gone there yet.

France for me, too, if we're doing pure nostalgia.

Thinking about it, would love to see it held in Belgium/Holland too.

Turkey and Australia, it's crazy that Turkey has never hosted a major tournament.

Have you been to inland Turkey to see the social conditions there? Do you expect them to build all the stadiums in the west coast? Or host the whole event in Istanbul risking the lives of thousands of people? Turkey can only host small events (finals) in Istanbul and there's no way this will change.

Australia and New Zealand did a fantastic job with the womens world cup, you notice how Saudi Arabia or Qatar seem less keen on hosting women's tournament.

Joint bid of Norway, Sweden and Denmark but not sure they have enough larger stadiums to be meaningful from a quick glance.

Chile

UK

I would say Italy -- an incredible country I visit every year.  Has the history, the stadiums, tourism capacity, and even if the football disappoints -- the people, food and wine rarely do.

But -- with the little gangster's * ticket policies and prices, it doesn't matter what country hosts.
