What if he gets play offs?

I'll turn the xbox off and go to bed.

More chance of a judgement on Man City's charges coming this decade than that happening.

I don't envy him for his first 4 or 5 games to face up to lol

Stoke away

Boro away

Norwich home

Ipswich away

Bristol City home

Hardly what Dean Smith had to face for his games.

Every game in the Championship is winnable, or drawable. Especially if you set yourself up hard to beat and frustrate the opposition. Blackburn just beat QPR away.

If does this well, there are points to be had there.

What about if he gets on a decent run and we finish a lot higher than 19th-21st?

Nope, shake his hand and say goodbye. Look for a proper manager in the summer.

"Gary Rowett is a pragmatic manager known for building solid, defensively sound teams"

Well good luck with that, because its not going to work here lol

I feel this will end how Thomas Frank ended at Spurs, bringing in a manager that is unsuitable for the squad at hand.

In fairness we’ve witnessed the last 4 odd years a squad unsuitable for the style the owner wanted every manager to play. And we’re staring at relegation to league one after expecting that squad to successfully play it. It’s a mishmash of a squad that half the players panic when under pressure with the ball, even under Enzo we never looked comfortable with the ball at our feet.

We basically at least need to be organised better, with a better work ethic and fitness. His work is cut out for him as too many players probably don’t care enough

They've driven themselves into a corner and had to go with a short term Rowett solution. Their failure to get in a new DoF/TD left them with little choice. If they'd gone for a more long term/ambitious appointment it might have become an expensive mistake when the new guy gets finally arrives. Messy situation.

If he turned down Blackburn for a temporary gig there must be a big carrot

I think he lives in Derby, so that must have been a factor.

It will be interesting to see what Assistants he'll bring in. I guess Mark Sale is guaranteed (he goes everywhere with him), possibly Callum Davidson (just got the boot from Ross County), but with King, Sadler & Hughes likely to stay in place, I don't think it will be more than 1 or 2.

Sensible. Trite cliche but I do generally  think if he was Portuguese the reaction would be slightly more favourable. The PPG throughout his championship career is actually pretty good considering who he's managed.

Like Hassenhuttl?

Dean Smith?

HUGE gamble on Skabala the PE teacher?

Get Challinor in?

Definitely better and more suited to the role than 'Interim King'.....although the proof will be in the pudding as he didn't keep Brum up two seasons ago of course....

Those are the temporary options mid-season. There will be loads better in the summer.

Yeah but had they appointed him straight after Mowbray had to leave he'd of kept them up, they wasted 6 games with Mark Venus in charge where they got 1 point

Despite it being a 'short term appointment' I think it's pretty much guaranteed he will be the manager next season as the lazy option.

Situation 1 - We stay up and he does alright, board will probably think he's the right man to kick on with his own staff, players in and out etc.

Situation 2 - We get relegated. They will see him as a very good manager for a league 1 club so keep him to try and rebuild during a firesale whereby we can't attract a manager of any substance.

Only way I think he doesn't stay beyond this season is if we jist about stay up but see no improvement on the pitch and we get a bit lucky in the odd game to scrape through.
