Come on, I know we’re crap right now but Stoke and Boro are not like Old Trafford or Anfield, and most of these turncoats played at these places last season. If GR sets us up right we shouldn’t fear anyone, just need that first win to break this god awful cycle.

I'm not saying Middlesbrough is? But prior to losing to Cov they were on a very good run of form. So he couldn't have asked really for a much harder game early on

Hope everyone can put aside the fact he’s former derby and get behind him

It did cross my mind and I hate Derby with  passion since 1994 at the playoffs Wembley and one of them punched me in the face ending with me ripping the shirt off his back.
But I don’t think they liked him and they probably said he was too Leicester so I’m good.

They're not going to tell us, are they? Just out of spite. They hate us.

He's taken training, yet still hasn't been announced. How many other clubs do that

I would expect it at non league level, where maybe social media little bit slow due to availability of volunteers uploading etc... but once again shows poor communication from the football club. I mean post this at 10am brief comment to say "We are thrilled and excited to announce Gary Rowett as our new Leicester City manager, we would like to welcome Gary and his backroom team to the football club. Already Gary is hard at work down at our Seagrave training ground preparing for our key away clash at Stoke City. Further details of recent new management appointment will be announced shortly as well exclusive interview with our new manager Gary Rowett" that is all that was required. Simple and enough, is that too much to ask.

It so we can get a nice shinny video of him lcfc website looking smart in his new freshly pressed Leicester Kit strutting about as if he owns the place and everyone thinks he's wonderful, it will also show how impressed all the Leicester players look, that a new savior has arrived to lead them out of the wilderness and into the promise land just like the last three ones before him

Ruud wasn’t even in the country when they announced him.

Because Ruud was a higher profile individual and they thought it would get us onside with the board?

They know GR isn't.

Gary Rowett: Leicester City Appoint New Manager Until The End Of The Season

We are pleased to confirm that Gary Rowett has been appointed Leicester City Men’s First Team Manager on a contract to the end of the 2025/26 season.

  • Leicester City appoint Gary Rowett as Men’s First Team Manager
  • The 51-year-old agrees a contract to the end of the 2025/26 season
  • Callum Davidson joins coaching staff as Assistant Manager
  • Rowett to take charge of the team for the first time at Stoke City this Saturday

Gary will now oversee First Team training as we prepare to travel to his former club Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend.

Having taken charge of nearly 600 matches during a 14-year managerial career, including over 400 games in the Championship, Gary brings a wealth of valuable experience back to Leicester, where he served as a player between 2000 and 2002.

He arrives with a colleague with whom he has previously worked – former City team-mate Callum Davidson as Assistant Manager – who will join Andy King and Adam Sadler on the First Team coaching staff.

Leicester City Manager Gary Rowett said: “I’m really proud to be the new Leicester City Manager and to have the opportunity to work with and lead a really talented group over the coming months.

“It’s very clear to us all what needs to be achieved between now and the end of the season and the work begins immediately. I’m looking forward to building connections with the players, with the staff at the Club and with the fans – all of which will be vital to helping us secure the results we need.”

Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “we promote!”

Big opportunity for him for next season. If all the sales and getting these higher earners off the books helps to sort us out PSR-wise, maybe we'll actually have something to spend in the summer.

Save our season and he could get a longer contract with a club that could be a challenger next season.

Some big ifs there, not least the risk that he can keep this sinking ship afloat this season. But at least he's a proper manager with good experience. Get the basics right and we'll pull ourselves out of this.

I liked him as a player, saw a lot of him, both for us and for Derby where I had access to someone else’s season ticket (I know…) for a few years whilst he was there. Always worked hard, left it all on the pitch. Here’s hoping he can bring a bit of that out in our players.
