And then they try and pass to Skipp who is in a higher congested area and expect him to be able to do anything.  It's like they just repeat and rinse rather than address why it doesn't work in the first place.  The whole defence is sharing a brain cell.  Nelson is the only one with any sort of future and he's infested by this slow rot.

The reason neither Okoli nor Nelson closed Maghoma down is because they were left isolated 3 on 2 and the second one moved towards him an easy through ball pass to an open goal was on either side. 

We know the backline is shit but think we’re too expansive which is what’s going to hurt us. Thomas high up and Ricardo has a freedom to roam. Backline needs better protection and more cover otherwise they’ll hit us on the break

We lack presence all over the pitch. Most pressing is the final third. Daka is just never in a position to receive the ball for a goal scoring opportunity.  The ball gets up there and moves just die.

One good thing about Winks is he will run back there and get the ball off Okoli to help him. He also goes back there and you can see him screaming at him telling him what to do with the ball.

 

One of Okoli's and Nelson's biggest weakness' is they don't communicate with each other. I don't think I've ever seen either of them actually talking when the camera is zoomed in on them. Which for CB's is bad.

Yea, I get it for Thomas as his defense is poor anyway, but Ricardo can't also play so far out of position as well, there always needs to be at least 3 in line with each other at the back.

 

Unless we go full Kevin Keegan, but with Daka or Ayew upfront I wouldn't back us there either...
