Lascelles looked slow and lumbering against Norwich. We concede more goals with him involved. I think that we were 3-1 up vs S'hampton when he came on. Doesn't give me any more confidence than any of our other centre-backs.

He's clearly lacking match fitness, for understandable reasons. But I thought his positional play and reading of the game looked better than Okoli's last weekend. He needs a few games under his belt but I think he will prove to be an upgrade on Okoli.

I think that sums up everything. We're not surviving, we're too reliant on other teams being worse than us. It's not in our hands and that's the worry. 

 

Oxford, even though are poor are showing fight and belief. We have nothing. Leicester City and West Brom are pathetic 

 

Another weekend in the relegation zone. 4-0 Ipswich

Absolute scenes when Kasey McAteer glides past Thomas to whip one in to George Hurst.

 

McAteer used to have a panic attack if he ventured into the attacking half when here but guarantee we'll make him look like Messi tomorrow.

I think 'hate him' is way too strong. There are question marks over why we bought him and definitely why we paid as much as we did, but he's regularly in the squad and I'd expect to see him involved the game tomorrow.

 

Beginning of the year we had 3 right wingers, Sindre Walle Egeli who is 19 and just joined, Wes Burns still injured and recovering from a season ending injury last year and Chio Ogbene who was also just back from a season long injury. Ipswich decided to ship out Ogbene on loan and bring in McAteer, which on the face of it meant we had a senior right winger without injury concerns to support Egeli while waiting for Burns. Issue is, that wasn't worth anywhere near the ~£10m figure bandied about. I think it's put him in a crap position because he's having to justify a price tag that is just higher than his value to the team.

 

PS. Yes, we have Clarke and Philogene on the Left who could deputise on the right, but both have struggled to perform on the right and in any case would weaken us on the left if they also had to cover the right.

Mehmeti plays all over the place at the front. Super buy for £3m. If McAteer plays it will be as a 70th minute sub.

It's about time your players got their sh1t together and played for the shirt. Last nights result should be a jolt to them and get them to put full effort in. 

 

I think you will give Ipswich a game and take it all the way.
