What’s the point of loaning a player who can’t do 90 mins

We got him on a free not a loan. But a valid point.

First time I have seen him start, thought he was poor, no upgrade on what we have, saw no leadership and got outshone by Okoli ( says it all)

Think he’s the type that makes his partner look really good, Okoli hasn’t done anything massively stupid since he has started and I think it’s very telling

Because he can give us 60 minutes of quality, calmness, strength and confidence- all essential in our current mess. In some games he just looks commanding and a higher level, even without doing much. Anyone who has played the game at any level will understand the effect that has on team mates and the opposition. I agree with the poster that he has helped Okoli.

In my humble opinion we shouldn't make changes to centre backs late in games it just adds to the already confused defending

Would rather him come on for a midfielder in last 20 to help defend a lead ..

"Can" as opposed to "will" was a good call.

From 14 seconds in. If you just keep your eyes on him it's almost funny.

I wasn’t able to see the game until the last 20 minutes, and have just seen the 2 minutes highlights. I’m not sure why you’ve picked on my post.

So he was entirely to blame for their goal then was he? Yeah right.
I stand by what I said in my post you’ve quoted. If you are doubting that he is not a good footballer, and too good for us, then you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

Ok, if he switched off for their goal today ( 2 minutes into a game) and none of the others around were also culpable, then he was at fault. All players make mistakes.

I've no idea what the initial sentence is for  (was I supposed to know this or something, and er, so?), but come on dude, saying I "picked on your post" is a bit lame, no?

It was the latest post in the thread, and made a handily contradictory (but, as I highlighted, caveated) call wrt that particular bit of defending.

It was nothing personal, so the highlighted strawmen were unecessary as well as organically naff

Vesty has to play the next game, we desperately need someone who can play the ball out of defence

Can’t wait to see standy standy Vesty ball again. That long ball he played out for a goal kick was sublime.

My original post was in response to a question of what use he is to us. So not having watched the game live and only seeing the highlights with 2 repeats of their goal (which was pathetic by all our players near by) , I’m not going through the agony of scrutinising what JM did or didn’t do.
I thought you were having a dig and making a point that JM is crap, or can’t be bothered, but can see the nuance of what you’re saying between can and will ( but I don’t accept he purposely avoided trying to stop their goal). Hence my narky response-  it came on top of my  disbelief and frustration that we’ve failed to beat SW.

And what about Lascelles impressed you today? If we're seemingly continuing to play out from the back, Vestergaard has to play.
