Could build an entire XI of academy players.

Bausor

Aluko - Gray - Wilson-Brown - Ali

Braybrooke - Cartwright - Page

Evans - Hutchinson - Alves

That's assuming Nelson and Monga get sold.

Imagine paying premier league season ticket prices to watch this lot!!!

I know some will say, I would prefer to watch the homegrown players....but still!!

Brussel loves both full backs inverting doesn’t he? With a nice big gap between his CB’s to leave his sides vulnerable at the back.
You just know that means Hamza inverting from RB again rather than Aluko 😬 and probably means a new GK needed as I don’t think Jakub is good enough on the ball for this system.

                      Stolarczyk

               Nelson   -   W-Brown

         Hamza  -  Skipp  -  Thomas

              Braybrooke - Page

Joseph              Evans                Alves

Not sure Martin will fancy hamza in the slightest. I think alukos chances will have increased sevenfold.

A manager obsessed with possession is not going to want someone who doesn’t have the technical ability.  I’m one of the few on here that actually does rate hamza. But we’ve never played a way that works for him and Martin won’t be any different. In a high turnover team that’s attempting to break lines consistently hamza is very useful as he is at his best when he is hounding to get the back back quickly (not last man or in your box) higher up the field.

Who's tracking Top's plane, is he in the country????

Been here since the game, playing Polo once or twice a week. Flew over commercial as his jet was in for repairs, but Jet has flown over to the UK today, probably with family in for the rest of Polo season.

I hope you’re right!

Aluko looks a real prospect so would be a shame if Martin’s appointment hampers his chances. The other point is I think his style of play will actually suit some of our more technical academy players such as Sammy, Page, Alves and Nelson if he stays. Just need him to trust them

If I were to guess, he’d be more likely to use him as a cm to just win the ball and lay it off to someone.  I think the fullbacks will be essential to how this system works so I just think the hamza rb experiment will be put to bed.

Enzo used hamza purely as a back up, don’t think he’d ever have had a prominent role. One training session and you’d be dipping into the market if he was first choice

As Percy said this at the beginning of the week, I guess the main holdup, is sorting out his backroom team. He would want Matt Gill as his Assistant Manager, but all the talk at West Brom, is that Gill is staying there. If that's the case, I dont know who else he'd want for that job. Rhys Owen (Performance Coach) is very likely to be coming in from Rangers. Dean Thornton, RM's usual Goalkeeping Coach seems to be happy at Millwall and Ben Parker, the usual Analyst, is well set up at Old Trafford.

So, I would imagine there's a lot of 'tooing & froing' going on, trying to sort out the backup staff

What I always enjoy about your posts is this sort of exploration. Most folk never even consider this but you seem to have a keen interest and backroom staff, respect the craft!

We were not in the relegation zone when we got rid of him. We were 14th.

More by luck than judgement, we were headed there, all the stats pointed to that. There was at best 3 games under him that we actually deserved to win. I’m not having that that clown was any good, as he wasn’t.

I feel genuinely sorry for the Leicester Faithful.

Martin will have you hating football he's a total bombscare.

Prepare to lose goals at record levels.

We've already had a right good crack at doing that in this unprecedented decline. Brussell is here to complete the job.

Can anyone, actually put forward a name of a manager that’s gone in somewhere completely unpopular and done well?

from any club. It’s just always impossible to do well when the fans are truly against it. I don’t mean like Claudio is an odd choice… I mean when fans are actually fully against an individual.  Even if they start  well one slip up and it just gets toxic in an instant as everyone waits for the chance to be proved right.

Rafa at Everton. Frank at spurs. Nuno at spurs. Bruce at villa or Newcastle.

I just can’t think of a happy ending when a guy is demonized before a ball is kicked and actually turns those opinions around?

It’s not even like he’s coming into a club that has low expectations out fans will not be happy to lose to any club in league 1… and essentially he needs to be perfect with his PR and results for at least the first month to get any credit in the bank. Or it will go the same as rangers

Clough at Forest perhaps the obvious one.

And before anyone asks, no I'm not comparing Brussell to Brian Clough.

Cov fans were livid with Lampard

That’s a good shout. I guess the difference is that lampards issue was that they just thought he wouldn’t get results. As seen with Enzo, even if we win games we still won’t like what we’re seeing.

For where we are, if he gives  youth a chance and wins the majority of games. I’ll be happy. But the get it forward fans aren’t ever going to accept this one

We arent buying a super duper ball playing keeper in L1.

no one is saying he is any good. But maybe he wasn’t the worst either.  Besides, if successive managers have failed then it leaves two possibilities that either all the managers were bad, or maybe the players should shoulder some of the blame.

Likely  a mixture of both, of course

If he doesn't become more pragmatic it will strangle his career before it's really taken off, yet he shows no signs of altering his approach.

For any competent interviewing panel, the obvious question is "Russell, why did go so wrong at Southampton in PL and Rangers and what have you learnt from that?" (The record is appalling: 13 losses out of 16 at Southampton and 1 win from 7 at Rangers in Premiership ) RM can only be successful if he acknowledges his past failings; largely his idea that possession in itself is key to winning games - Southampton's possession in PL was over 50% across his time in charge. (For comparison, Leicester's was 42% in 2015/16.)

I can't see how he can be appointed to any club unless he has a satisfactory answer to that key question.

So if his usual band of brothers to a degree are in other jobs, wonder if he has a backup? A new analyst is needed, but surely this should be appointed at club level rather than based on manager? Same with performance coach. Though our choice of coaches isn't great with our set piece record last year
