That’s a good shout. I guess the difference is that lampards issue was that they just thought he wouldn’t get results. As seen with Enzo, even if we win games we still won’t like what we’re seeing.

For where we are, if he gives  youth a chance and wins the majority of games. I’ll be happy. But the get it forward fans aren’t ever going to accept this one

Nuno at Notts wasn't popular at the time either.

Farke at Leeds has his moments. The fans there want him sacked after every defeat but you can't deny that he's done a good job there overall. Even despite the fact they didn't get promoted in 23/24.

Realistically the only way he gets any fan on board is by winning every game. Soon as he loses one, the boo’s will start.

Exactly this, its going to need 10 wins on the spin and convincing wins aswell

Can anyone, actually put forward a name of a manager that’s gone in somewhere completely unpopular and done well?

from any club. It’s just always impossible to do well when the fans are truly against it. I don’t mean like Claudio is an odd choice… I mean when fans are actually fully against an individual.  Even if they start  well one slip up and it just gets toxic in an instant as everyone waits for the chance to be proved right.

Rafa at Everton. Frank at spurs. Nuno at spurs. Bruce at villa or Newcastle.

I just can’t think of a happy ending when a guy is demonized before a ball is kicked and actually turns those opinions around?

It’s not even like he’s coming into a club that has low expectations out fans will not be happy to lose to any club in league 1… and essentially he needs to be perfect with his PR and results for at least the first month to get any credit in the bank. Or it will go the same as rangers

I have just heard from a family member who has a close friend within the club that Russell Martin IS the new manager and i have seen photos of the presentation he has given. Only saying what i have been told but the source is usually very reliable

You're not "only saying what you were told" though, are you? You are saying outright that you've seen pictures of him being unveiled....

What I always enjoy about your posts is this sort of exploration. Most folk never even consider this but you seem to have a keen interest and backroom staff, respect the craft!

Thanks, Ric, its nice to have the feedback - I try!

I think if Martin gets the job it shows how delusional the club is, our current situation its perfect for an up and coming young manager wanted to prove themselves looking at options with a win rate of below 40% isn't going to help the club at all.

He’s 40 ! How young do you want ? Seriously I would rather have had Fuchs tbh and take your point - I really don’t like the idea of RM but if he wants to be a manager this job is probably his last chance to make it work - it’s got huge success or car crash written all over it !

Grim if true. He's an arse like Rodgers, but with less to back it up

Yes a completely arrogant so and so without the ability and I disliked BR but this guy is proper marmite !!

If he rocks up in a suit and white trainers I'll be front and centre for the protest.

Only Pearson is allowed to wear white trainers…

We’ll all have egg on our faces when Russell takes us on a 25 match unbeaten run like he did at Southampton.

Which miraculously gets us outside of the relegation places, on goal difference, on the final day of the season.

Not sure Martin will fancy hamza in the slightest. I think alukos chances will have increased sevenfold.

My prediction is they will fall out over who spends more time in front of the mirror whilst tending their long flowing locks.

Hairbrushes at Dawn (who is a lovely girl apparently!) ;)

Yes some where aimed at O'Neil but it was also a protest at the board. If anyone remembers they invited 6 fans to go into the board room to talk to O'Neil and the board ( imagine them doing that now 😅) One of my mates was picked and he explicitly told O'Neil that he and alot of other fans where more unhappy with the board than the manager.
