Cal Posted 21 April Posted 21 April This pissed me off so much. What the **** were people thinking. Absolute embarrassment.

CosbehFox Posted 21 April Posted 21 April Had a disagreement which got vocal on my behalf at the end of the game. Was called a disgrace for singing about selling the club He shut up when I said say that to 250 what get laid off work next week 2
eblair Posted 21 April Posted 21 April (edited) Also ended up in vocal disagreement, regrettably called someone monstrously thick. No idea how people’s brains are wired to think this is okay. Told him this is objectively as bad as it has ever been and we are at risk of not existing in 2 years, and he said I wasn’t alive during McClintock. Edited 21 April by eblair 1
tcrofts Posted 21 April Posted 21 April Let them get in with it, they've displayed the same emotion no matter how well (or not well) we have done over the years. They're completely unaware of the consequences of getting relegated and will see league 1 as another set of games to go to where they will carry on with their pre-match traditions. Ask any of them to name our squad and most will not be able to, or pronounce names correctly. They will only remember players once being good i.e Mavidi (sic) was good first time in the championship, Daka got four goals in one game, Ayew scored a last minute winner against Southampton, Winksy played well under Maresco (sic) Outside of the 2/3 hours on a match day they won't involve themselves with the goings on at the club. They wont be on here (or other forums) viewing the reactions after a game, or seeing what the chat is about after a significant event within the club. They only see what they want to see It's their pleasure, and what makes them happy, but the tide has definitely turned with some of them. I heard people booing who have always clapped a poor performance. A bloke who is a staunch vocal KPFC 'fan' barely uttered a word (yes, I was at the game last night) They will be there on Friday and they will be there next season and the season after that and so on, but they are fastly becoming the minority and have less of a voice. Let them be them and we'll be us #sacktheboard
fazzyfox Posted 22 April Posted 22 April I try to dissect it as follows - The clapping traditionally stems from the players coming over to thank the crowd for their support - a little ritual where they thank us and then the crowd briefly thank them for that acknowledgement. The next bit is determined by the result and performance, ie extended applause if they’ve been brilliant, a joint celebration That was then, this is now. For me that ritual has become null and void with this squad, the attitude, effort and application, I don’t want them to applaud me for my support, I want them to put effort in for 90 minutes and respect the badge, then I’ll respect them. I’m well mannered and respect etiquette but I will not applaud back to acknowledge their acknowledgment, particularly when they’re having to be prompted by the captain and coaches nor will I offer applause for the quality of performance this or last season. I shake my head, I tell them “I’m not clapping that, you haven’t put it in, you gave up” etc. It seems those who do and who engage in clapping in both phases of it have no standards, are star struck at being addressed so closely by semi famous sportsmen and see defeat as something that has just happened to them, something for which they had no responsibility or say. They cannot recognise the ritual is supposedly based on respect and that they do not respect you, nor should you respect them. You respect the players who didn’t want the ball when we were behind vs Swansea? They deserve applause? Hamza laughing at us, Winks abusing us, players not tracking runners, all season week in week out. Clapping suggests satisfaction and approval, well you’ve got the standards that that deserves then. The circle of respect is broken and they broke it. 2
Popular Post Dan Posted 22 April Popular Post Posted 22 April 1 hour ago, Manwell Pablo said: I’d have no problem with a phoenix club over this mess I have to say. The whole fan base is broken and at odds with each other, I legitimately think Sheffield Wednesday have more chance than us in the long run unless we can fix that because they are at least somewhat united. And honestly mate the way you are talking is the way phoenix clubs start. I’m still hopeful if we stop coming down on them so hard they might eventually see the light as surely there only so long you can go on before something has to give. And also phoenix clubs carry their own problems. Supporting Wednesday would depress me less than this in 2026. Despite absolutely everything they are going through. They at least have togetherness. They aren't a totally fragmented fanbase. Their players try. These fundamental things matter more to me than finishing 1 place higher in the league. These things will help them repair in the end. We are not only screwed but haven't a single thing to cling onto that tells you it will get better. Literally - not one thing. There is no good fight. 10
Manwell Pablo Posted 22 April Posted 22 April (edited) @dan nail on head mate, I’ve said something very similar myself elsewhere tonight. Edited 22 April by Manwell Pablo
Sly Posted 22 April Posted 22 April They’re the “King Power Cult” at this point, or just “King Power Lemmings”. I’m with @Manwell Pablo in that I can see why people would clap an individual performance as they put effort in last night. However over the course of a the last two seasons, these collective group of players have under performed and largely been a disgrace. If anything the effort and urgency showed in the last 30 minutes last night, as needed since the start of this season. Simple back and white is, we haven’t generated chances, for our forwards to miss in most games. couple that with brain fart decision at the other end, we are then chasing our own tail. Let us just clap them off though, as we’ve worked hard! FML 1

Some people, who do care about the club and go every week, will have been happy to turn up and see that spirit for once that’s all I am saying. Something called empathy we as a complete fan base seem to be totally lacking at the moment. Has a lack of empathy has been a significant part of our problem as a fanbase? It hadn't struck me as a standout negative trait of ours, at least not in comparison to the rest of the world.

I do feel neither side has heard the other sides argument yes, I’ve seen our supporters fight each other at Bramal lane and heard about clashes at the king power and all I see here is people arguing with anyone who dares offer to suggest anything other than ripping down the statue of Vichai with a Cambodia flag draped over his head recently. That’s an exaggeration but you get my point as I know you’re an intelligent bloke. You mention other parts of the world, I live in Sheffield, the way Wednesday fans came together puts us to shame. It took a lot of debating and talking but they did it. That’s empathy. 1

I was genuinely astonished by the number applauding the players off tonight. There was hundreds around me. One bloke clapping had a bewildered look as to why people were booing. What's wrong with these people? What do you expect when you have a where’s wally look alike in a tigers hat, that’s our level of support upper class spineless pensioners

Claudio Fannieri Posted 22 April Posted 22 April Absolutely boiled my piss watching people not only clapping that shower but actually giving it rock all with the clappers like we had won promotion, this people are not fans they are indeed customers, there for a day out, like going to the cinema or a show, their reaction is based on having a good day and being entertained. they are not emotionally invested, it doesn’t hurt them and it’s about having a nice day/evening. If you are a genuine supporter and you understand the implications of relegation for the football club, the city and more so the poor buggers who will lose their jobs as a consequence then there is not a chance you clap, you boo or your turn your back and walk out. 1 1
blueharmie Posted 22 April Posted 22 April That clapping yesterday was worse than standing outside your front door banging pots and pans during COVID. Totally bizarre fanbase 2
LCFCJohn Posted 22 April Posted 22 April I didn’t watch the game and checked the result at the end. I don’t feel anything about the relegation. But this thread is what angers me. KP will go at some point. All owners do. But fans are supposed to be the constant. And the fact we have so many celebrating and glorifying relegation to the third tier is sad, pathetic and infuriating in equal measure. The club has no future with Aiyawatt, Rudkin and these KPFC cult morons. Our only hope is they are tied to Aiyawatt/KP and at whatever point a change of ownership comes, if they haven’t lost interest and drifted away already, that they leave the club alone, stop attending and stay true to their loyalty to KP. 1
Bert Posted 22 April Posted 22 April A massive part of the problem. What message does that send to the players? Asked numerous people why they were clapping them. Got the usual “I’m a fan” “support your team” response and even got told by one lady to go and support Cov. 2 1
Raj Posted 22 April Posted 22 April I swear on my children's lives there were some folk clapping the players off in L1 last night. The Ginetta clan and a few others. I was literally fuming at them. had a heated debate with a few "older" supporters when I told them i wasnt renewing. They said the club was better off without people like me. I said look around the stadoum, is this what you want. Reply" Atleast we are loyal supporters"🙄 1 1
Jon the Hat Posted 22 April Posted 22 April 6 hours ago, Kitchandro said: Basically, they’re not fans. And I know that sort of thing gets thrown around a lot, but these people don’t have the first prerequisites of being a supporter. They aren’t vocal, they aren’t emotionally involved, and they don’t have pride in it because pride = standards. They’re just people who go to the football to pass the time. The epitome of a consumer. Buy the merch etc. Purple Ronnie mentioned it but it’s the result of football declining from a more organic, community-centred passion to what it is now, a business. People are well within their rights to say I’m not a fan anymore either. I can’t associate with what football is now, I don’t respect players nor our fanbase. Agreed. It is perfectly possible to enjoy sport without being a fan too. I am going to see the Fremantle dockers play AFL this weekend, and I would like them to win, but do I actually care? Not really. I will enjoy myself though in the same way I will watch a unconnected world cup game and enjoy it. Sometimes more than the club you are a fan of... A lot of AFL fans in Perth are like this I think, one guy last time - from the UK and there with his kids - told me how much they enjoy it and that they would never have taken the kids to see the football back home, with the swearing the angry drunk people etc.
CrazyKopCorner Posted 22 April Posted 22 April (edited) Yes these supporters are like Tigers fans You get the odd murmur out of them but it's a day out to watch the footie. There's no emotional or vocal investment whatsoever. Edited 22 April by CrazyKopCorner 3
Popular Post Sol thewall Bamba Posted 22 April Popular Post Posted 22 April Said it in an earlier thread. It's indicative of wider British society, show how much shit you can swallow without complaining as some twisted badge of honour. Life's losers sadly. 16

And there’s a few people who have ST at both….. and I’ve always said that this can hamper our atmosphere. 2
LichesterRedSoxSoccerBall Posted 22 April Posted 22 April I had zero emotion at the full time whistle. We were dead a long time ago. When it panned to the crowd applauding I was raging and still am. Wtf are they doing. Embarrassing fans, we need rid of this pathetic bunch that follow lcfc. 3

Yes I've been to the Tigers over the years and there's a lot to admire but I'm more upset if we lose a pre season game than if they lose the European Final or whatever. There's that outright passion with The City I just don't see / feel with the The Tigers and I think we've grown that type of supporter over the last 15 years or so. The die hards have been disenfranchised, priced out and treated like shite in the same period. 2
