But perhaps we’ve landed on the manager we deserve. We very rarely do midtable mediocrity - we either fight toward the top or bottom of whatever league we’re in or there is always something to play for. It’s either brilliant or crap with us. At Southampton in the Championship I think promotion was based on an insanely good run of wins or undefeated - 23 or 28 something like that. My point is that he’s either brilliant or crap, and to me that resembles the boom or bust journey and cycles that we’ve been on these last few years. We’re either brilliant or crap. So just as well as could be gone by Christmas, he could also be the next messiah (if messiah in this context is getting us out of this league)? But he is most certainly a silly boy! 2

Starting badly would always put us under thr spotlight under any manager but the pressure and scrutiny going with Martin was obvious. The club cannot be excused for this, it's the last in a long line of brainless decisions. His reaction yesterday is alarming, i'm not sure he works well under such pressure either whether he says it doesn't bother him or not. He needs this international break with a couple os solid results otherwise it's going to get very unpleasant. 7

Groby_Blue Posted 12 September Posted 12 September Had some more intel from someone who knows Andy King very well Martin didn't want King as part of his coaching team, tried to get rid of him and when he was told no, he refused to speak to King for weeks Martin thinks he's in charge of everything and it's his way or nothing and he refuses point blank to listen to anyone else's opinion The players don't like the 'style' of play and have told him but he will not be moved from the way he wants them to play. Some stuff we had already worked out and the players not wanting to play his style but being forced to ends up with results like last weekend He's a deluded bell end

There are plenty of sticks to justifiably beat Martin with, I'm not sure allegedly failing to respect Andy King's coaching skills is the one. 4

We have problems throughout the club as we know, and moving on another manager is only making the situation even worse. We lose a few games, it’s the managers fault. A proportion of the fans turn, and the only part of the club that could be stable and get us going is destabilised. Cooper, VN, Rowett, Cifuentes and now it’s Martins turn. I don’t believe sacking any of them have made one iota of difference. It’s broken throughout, we know that, but I think the only chance we have of getting out of this is if we allow someone to build. One of the biggest issues with our current strategy of hire and fire is if any players don’t get on with the manager, they just get the hump knowing that downing tools will inevitably lead to the manager going. We have to stop this cycle and dig in. The other option is to add Martin the list of failures and then we can moan about another one that will fail. Each time us employing one with less credentials as nobody of any quality will join 4

Failing to win is actually more interesting. Yes, that makes it a tough job to impress but there we are. When he speaks he comes across as both arrogant and uncertain. Not a good combination. 1
