Calvert Lewin has always got in good positions, got plenty of chances and been an absolute pest to play against, but goes through long periods of sub par finishing where he underperforms the chances he gets… currently in one of his good spells, did alright end of last season as well. Has had long periods of crap shot conversion rate in the past though

I mean, they have 1 loss in their last 12 in the league. I don't think they're fake. Farke is a good manager when he's given a competitive squad.

They’re 3rd or 4th in the premier league table since December 2025, not just for this season, and have upgraded in the summer as well imo. Trafford and Muharemovic are great signings, they will get at least Europa League on current evidence, slim/outside chance of Champions League arguably.

Muharemovic is a beast of a player. Huge, pretty quick, smart, has a lovely feel for a pass. I suspect he's only there one season and they make a big profit.

I remember being impressed with him in the world cup play offs for Bosnia, particularly against Italy. Surprised he didn't get the bigger move straight away.

I don't enjoy seeing Leeds doing well, but I'm happy for Farke. He seems like a decent bloke and glad he's managed to prove himself in the Prem with a bit of money to spend.

Again I'm not disagreeing - but the initial point I was countering was that these sides were "unable to cope" as if they've not got a pot to piss in to buy players - they've both had adequate resource to bring in replacements. Whether they spend it soundly or who they choose to spend it on is another matter.

Villa haven't bottled anything. Under Emery they've finished 7th, 4th, 6th, 4th and won a major European trophy. All while constantly losing players. 

 

Last season they started slowly, in fact it took them 5 games until they scored a goal. Emery is a great manager, they will be fine.

We didn’t sell our players when we needed to 

that was our problem 

Villa and others have done that, replaced them and moved on

 

And we didn’t have the nouse to use the dodgy trading methods employed by other clubs since our relegation.

they just didn’t consider that Fernandez was in an offside position 

total tunnel vision on the haaland call

 

But I’m confused

the man Utd bench will have watched the incident on their iPad. They must have seen that Fernandez was offside. Why weren’t they in the fourth officials ear about that.   Oliver would have been able to hear that and may have queried it with the var.

Of course they can speak to the fourth official 

maresca was and was told it would be a goal 

I am sure that the ref, Linos and fourth official are on the same mic circuit but the fourth official will not be open all the time for obvious reasons as he’s speaking with coaches a lot. 

if the united bench made it clear to the fourth official that they’d missed something clear then I’m sure he’d have conveyed that to the var because he’d have heard that they’d not considered it in their discussions.

Sorry I know the officials talk to each other but meant if   teams could influence decisions like that they'd try to do it more often though|?
