For all we know Martin could be our new " Big Nige " I remember when Pearson was 1st appointed and that didn't go down great as i recall, hadn't done much managerial / assistant wise and look how good he was for us....Some managers / Players just fit certain clubs like a glove , but go elsewhere and fail miserably .

Gotta back guy to see what he can do, could be the start of something special as it was back then

Not sure that's correct? He'd been in coaching for 10 years before he came to us:

  • Manager of Carlisle, kept them in the football league on last day (Jimmy Glass moment)
  • First team coach at Stoke
  • Assistant manager at West Brom during 2005 great escape
  • Assistant manager at Newcastle, at least one caretaker stint
  • And before us, Southampton manager, keeping them up on the last day with a win from behind, at our expense

This is a really bad appointment. It might work out for him because basically with our resources in league one it'll be equal to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Those who think this is a good appointment did not watch Saints or Rangers when they were managed by RM.

Saints broke the premier league record for most errors leading to a goal 1/3rd into the season - it was same shit when he managed Rangers. Very, very bad football, even worse press conferences.

Is this even the case? Obviously lets see what the window brings, but it remains to be seen who we'll be able to shift and whether or not transfer fees received are used to keep the lights on/ensure compliance with spending rules. Or if they can actually be used to reinvest into the squad. And even if we do have more resources than everyone else, do we actually trust our structure to use it wisely? And note that the current squad is already not any good.

Having watched Scotland lose 3-0 to Brazil, it would appear that their defence have adopted a Martin Russell form of defending. Taking their time getting the ball forward and seeing how many passes they can make in their own area before losing the ball. It has obviously worked so well for him at Southampton and Rangers.

Seem to remember Ferguson advising Pulis when Stoke went up that it’s the worst thing if any of the top 6 start praising your team.
Pep praising Martin is exactly what they do when they win.

We were heavily praised by Wenger in 2015 when we lost at the Emirates. That was close to the start of that huge turnaround, because we looked completely doomed before that. I guess it can have meaning.

I suppose it can.
I’d rather have Pep, Wenger etc moaning about us after we’ve took a point or got a win against them.

Hed had 51 games and 30 of those were with Carlisle , my point was at the time he got Leicester job it was a very uninspiring appointment with most of us, me included . But he steadied the ship and we were the perfect match, RM could well be the same

Its not something we need to worry about thanks to Top and Rudders. Its more a case of whether we get praise from Barry Arnold from Rochdale.

It really irritates me when people moan about moaning on an internet forum.

We've just had the worst season in our history.   Our club is being run into the ground and we have been disgracefully let down by a bunch of over paid big time dossers.  To compound all that we have just appointed the one manager that many of us view as footballing Kryptonite.  Of course we're going to moan.

A forum like this is always going to reflect the fortunes of the club and right now it is on its arse.

I understand but there is a lot of repetition of the same complaints and issues. We know they are not resolved but the negativity has been absorbed here to the fullest and not much value in doing all again

Oh no it is correct

I still remember the BBC 606 picture of him with a headset on in the stands as Newcastle caretaker on the article sat in year 11 science.

My word there was some weapons on BBC 606 wasn't there? I remember getting into a 3 page long exchange with a Colchester United fan over the lack of variety on our half time refreshments menu.

The thing Pearson had was backing and a competent board. Unfortunately we have a complete bunch of arsewipes running every area now. By now that Pearson season we had built most of the squad, had a full coaching team. This bunch of tossers still haven't brought in a back room team for Martin, Rudkin is probably saying lets keep King, Sadler and Hughes as they are he 'elite' selections. Will there be any players? I doubt it how its panning out, probably some panic towards the end of the window when they realise we are still shit. It looks like we are following the same path of dither and delay, the Rudkin Way, nothing has changed,

When at Southampton they were more progressive going forward than Maresca.

They just had an horrendous defence. (If he can get the right defenders in)

We will do ok.

I don’t have any trust with our recruitment though.

It might be correct to say that Leicester fans were unsure of the appointment at the time, but it's incorrect to say Nigel Pearson 'hadn't done much' as a manager/coach at that time.

Given that the defenders we have had in the last four seasons were incapable of playing out from the back, without giving away at least one goal every few games this way of playing would appear to be something only the more skilled players can do effectively. I would strongly suggest that due to the incompetence of our owners, the players we will be relying on this coming season will be far below the level of our previous teams.

They conceded more goals than any other team (except Norwich) in the top ten positions. 63 Compared to our 41. Talking to several Southampton supporters I know, he was unpopular even after getting promoted by the play-offs. The next year was a complete washout, it made our efforts look good by comparison.

LCFC. 25 pts.  Goal diff. - 47

Southampton. 12 pts  Goal diff - 60

He's here. What the **** is the point of moaning about it all the time? We've not even kicked a ball yet. They're all here still. Do I want this? No. Am I gfoing to moan and whine all the time about it? **** no. It is what it is. We need to get out of this division and togetherness will help. Until I see the nonsense, I am supporting Russell Martin.

It's s forum, we all have our opinions.

Yours is more positive than most, but it's an opinion.

Most have just had enough of what is a very poorly ran club, with player's that are on good money & on long contracts, who seem to be disconnected with their fanbase.

That's also my opinion.

However, l agree that we need to back RM & see what develops.
