No chance Fuchs comes in, Martin would know that the minute it turns a little sour, the fans will be pushing for Fuchs to replace him.

Imagine that a) Fuchs likely has another number 1 role lined up, and b) Newport are financially unable to do enough this summer to improve on relegation scrap

It’s turned sour already hasn’t it?

Has a manager ever been sacked before their first game?

Would love Fuchs here, but not with RM.  I don't see how they can work together - personalities and football philosophy are poles apart.

Yep sure it has, but it would be a bad sign rather than good potentially. As will mean fund not there etc...

Some of the grievance with Russell Martin take issue with him being stubborn and arrogant. Name any top manager in the last 50 years that doesn’t have one or both of these characteristics. He has had success in the past in Div1 and the Championship we need to support the team and manager.

No way the club is an abomination if I had a season ticket I'd hand it back already. Grrrrrr

What success has he had in League One?

I can name a lot of managers who evolve after their methods prove to be elss effective over time. His idol Guardiola is one, changes the way his sides play regularly.

I can understand managers being arrogant if they have some degree of success.
Apart from 1 promotion with Southampton there isn’t anything else to right home about.
If anything it’s distinctly average at best.
Imo that’s the issue with Martin his arrogance does not correspond with the success he has had or lack of it.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we get no news tomorrow and Tuesday, with any contracts of any coaching new arrivals and announcements from 1st July onward so no new costs at all hit in the last few days of this financial year.

Most also don’t become a meme in football because of their style of play.

Wishing RM the best here. Evident fans have already turned against him. Hopefully he can be backed and start the much needed rebuild.

I really hope it works for him here.

It’s called foreshadowing, it’s not like he’s an unknown manager or one that has evolved a style of play due to the resources available.

I doubt he has had an epiphany and this is the club where he does something different, but I would be ecstatic to be proven wrong.

The dross will be enabled to play exactly the same way and the rot will continue.

Russell would have to be a bit stupid to not do a little research into whether the fans wanted him here or not.

So the number of fans who don't want him must be an insignificant number or he just wants the money and a chance to do some good for the club.

Not ruling out he could be a bit stupid:P

Agreed and I think he will be fine for us.

I'm not a fan of Martin at all but..... I think he gives us an identity, a clear style of play that even if you hate if he gets the right players in could be a success, also I think he will hold Rudkin and the squad to a standard that hasn't been seen since Enzo

Having said that I'm not expecting too much

I don’t understand why “fans” want a manager to fail, if he fails so do we… makes zero sense.

He’s deeply unpopular so some are thinking get it over with quick and then we can move on. I don’t like it when it gets personal but I think generally his style of Football has had its day and people want a more attacking counter style like the old Leicester.
He broke the record for the amount of passes leading to a goal - 56 pass move.
Some people may like that kind of thing but personally I’d rather have a different style but each to there own if you like that.

Agreed, we can’t be wanting a manager sacked after literally zero time in the job and then criticise the club for being run poorly. The club is absolutely bat shit crazy, and we are a part of that.
