Trying to tread carefully with this reply, lest this becomes the General News thread.

On one hand, FIFA is so corrupt, so I guess why not try it?

On the other hand, a US Supreme Court decision this week went against the president, in which he illegally tried to outlaw something in the constitution. Had it gone his way, Balogun would no longer be considered a US citizen. But now only a few days later, now they celebrate him. Disgusting.

Everyone in this scenario can get bent…except for Balogun, I feel for the guy.

Don't know if it's pure knee jerk (I suspect it is) when I say I don't think I can watch football anymore. This is actually ridiculous. What is the point in having rules and regulations if we can pick and choose willy-nilly. I'm so sick of these ****s who don't even care about the game having such influence over it's outcomes. Grassroots is the way to go people.

I dont, he rightly got sent off. If he wasnt then I'd accept the decision to scrap the ban

It should never have been a red card but the decision to suspend the ban is clearly pure corruption. No other country would have granted it. FIFA not even trying to hide it now.

I thought it was a red card when it occurred live... I agree it should not be overturned; but as an American I am not going to complain...

Fair point, and wasn’t a statement about the red card, my sympathies are now that he’ll become a pawn in this whole mess that will get misused for political gain.

Wow.   Surely it is not like USA is going to win the World Cup so it is not even worth turning a blind eye?  Not that it is even worth doing so at all in the first place.

I think you should complain, this is bigger than one decision and goes to the heart of the sport.

As a US fan can you seriously celebrate winning a game if he scores the only goal, knowing he’s only playing because of open corruption?
This is an absolute disgrace, and of all the shitty things that have happened to the sport recently, this is by far the worst.

England win the World Cup and the orange clogger pops it before the final would be a great way for it to end

I was over there and in this one place we were in, some woman was driving at 5 mph down a high street with a card board sign, written on one side was “is he dead yet?” And the other “no? Holy ****”.

Would be unreal if we managed to beat USA in the final the meltdown from trump would be on another level and it would be glorious

Not that they will unless corruption carries them all the way, but if the US won the thing, it’ll have the biggest asterisk over it anyway and the rest of the world wouldn’t see them as Champions anyway so let them do what they want. Anything less than winning will make them a laughing stock anyway given they have FIFA in their pocket.

Let Americans have power in football and this is what you'll get. Quartered game, unable to understand things as simple as a red card.

They own half the Premier League and most of the broadcast money comes from them. It's creeping into the game season by season, club acquisition one after another.

Now that's corruption. If that was Bellingham, would it have been over turned? Honestly, it's a disgrace.

Of course, it’s nothing to do with the fact Infantino is considered a close friend of Trump…

FIFA did the exact same thing with Ronaldo who got banned for 3 games right before the tournament and should have seen him miss two games of the  group stage. He elbowed an Irish player, violent conduct, clear red.

Gotta get those viewing figures up.
