Probably because some of the technical players haven't got the bottle.

He had a really good game last night, would be better then any signing of the summer if we could keep him!

Also one of th best defenders in the league. I just think someone will take a gamble on him.

Championship/League One is his level so it would make sense to utilise him

Not sure if I'm in the minority, but I think he could play for a lower end PL team if it was the right system.

He's definitely above L1 level. (apart from actually being in L1 now lol

Last time we were relegated to L1, we managed to keep some quality players who were all above L1 standard. Oakley, Fryatt, Gradel, Dyer, Howard to name a few. However, the financial state we are in at the moment makes me feel everyone is for sale. Be interesting to see who is left come 1st September. I hope Souttar is still here and potentially made captain.

He's our best defender. At actually defending.

I remember that away game against Newcastle in the prem. He was immense!

His performances have been great at the WC. I suspect he'll have a Championship deal already lined up. I really hope he can be convinced to stay though. Make him captain.

Souttar, Nelson and Gray would be fantastic options for us in this League. Maybe bring in a loan to make four.

Faes, Okoli and Vestergaard can do one.

I think if I’m the club I sell every senior outfield player bar the ones you mention and rebuild around them. Imagine in reality Thomas and Hamza stick but hopefully the latter as backup and the former to be sold on promotion. Souttar and Nelson would be perfect for a rebuild

I think it in everyone best interests from him to move on if we can get a decent fee.

He's been here 3.5 season, its not really worked out.

We need to drain the swamp and rebuild.

Out of all the defenders we have, he is the one I’d like to keep the most. .. But what if he gets injured again? Can we rely on him? The only way we could justify keeping him would be to give him another contract. 1 will he accept it? If not he’s kind of forcing our hand and 2. What happens if for a div. 1 team we put a lot of our budget into his contract, only for him to be out injured for another year.. we will probably only be able to afford one big CB wage/ seasoned pro and if he’s out injured for another then it could be a problem.

Hes the best defender on the books. But he's not the kind of defender RM will want is he? Will we need a backs to the wall defender who wins everything in the air if we're going to play a high line and have the ball 98% of the time?

Hes looked good for Aus but they're an underdog side. Not what we'll be for a season at least.

Chris Sutton

although he’s still a *****

claimed last night

soutter was the best player on the pitch

Broken clock is right twice a day. More times than Sutton.

But he was correct here

People say that he won’t fit the system but Martin really liked his brother and they are basically the same player. And Martin wanted coady… who is also no better on the ball

Souttar, Nelson and Aluko would be great building blocks for a manager with half an idea about solid no nonsense defending with progressive, quick support.

Sadly not needed for FC Backpass.

Souttar is no different to 95% of the squad, if an offer comes in that doesn’t entail a huge loss, will likely be considered.

We’re cooked when think of our woeful finances.

Yep, stating we should keep him is yet more financial suicide and if the club do this it will be nothing more than a desperate attempt to gamble again on us going up rather than raising money and trusting ourselves to bring in someone good enough for this level.

I was more making the point that if we can't sell him, we should utilise him and not freeze him out.

He can probably play lower PL level (someone like Cov/Hull ideal) but he would thrive around Championship level. If we keep him and Nelson as a pair we should have a good backline.
