I saw that prior to ko. I wasn't the only person in my local to question it. Although, l don't think they made any absolute howlers & seemed to be fairly consistent.

What's the connection with that? It's not even the same continent for either nation and even if it was, if we had European refs I wouldn't have thought any different to our chances.

You can't kick through a players foot to win the ball though.

It should not have been overturned.

It wasn’t clear and obvious.

I think the Kane foul was a penalty, but the issue is with the application of VAR at this tournament in moments like that. Sometimes they'll let it slide, sometimes they'll send the ref to the monitor. I'm all for not "over-refereeing" a game but it introduces a subjectivity to VAR and what officials deem "clear and obvious."

Millions will be running on adrenaline today, but I’m currently laying in bed feeling like I’ve been hit by a truck.

Even though winning in the Azteca can be classed as impressive, the real tests start next imo. On paper we should beat Norway, but this will be the first time in the knockouts where we’ll have to contend with a World Class player in Haaland, then it could be Messi in the Semis.

That’s what potentially winning the World Cup will come down to imo, can we contain the World Class players that we’ll be coming up against.

Minutes Played = 0

Yellow Cards = 1

Injuries = 1

I imagine that will be a pub quiz question in years to come lol

Hopefully having Stones, Guehi and O'Reilly training with Haaland daily at City is going to be a massive help but he is in sensational form its going to be such a task.

Hopefully James is fit to start, if not then I think i would stick with Konsa RB and bring in more experience in Stones / Burn who were both brilliant when they came on.

Nobody really talking how good Pickford was last night aswell - that last 20 mins was the best I have ever seen him in an England shirt and he has had some top performance.

Of course people will bang on about Mexico’s record in the Azteca, but In terms of dealing with World Class players, no it wasn’t.

Trying to contain Haaland, then potentially Messi is a real test.

Would love England to win the World Cup with a German manager and a black player to score the winner! Fack off to the racist cu...ts!

Saka and Rashford in the final, the latter with a clutch last minute penalty under immense pressure. The gammons' brains would burst trying to process the internal conflict.

The German bit is a non-issue, at this point a lot of them would probably prefer we were speaking it.

It’s so good to finally have a national team to be proud of

That is so well put. Whatever happens in a game you want players to put in a shift as well as actually playing well.

What a performance. I went to the pub, stumbled back, napped for an hour and got to work at 7:30. Normal day for me as those of you familiar with my shitposts on here are well aware. Get on my level, nerds.  :pearson:

Norway are going to be tough. If we defend like we did through the group stages we're going to struggle to contain Haaland and Odegaard - the first true quality forward line we'll come up against. However, that performance should give the backline a lot of confidence going into it.
