Afraid I am naive regarding ‘legal matters’, but wouldn’t we go into Administration first where creditors are paid x in the pound, then a buyer picks us up cheaper.

Someone will!!

All footballing creditors and secured creditors need to be paid in full, unsecured creditors can be paid a minimum of 25% of amount owed

I mean Ben Jacobs posted this update, I've basically ignored it as I feel he is unreliable and not a genuine source, am I being harsh?

Probably no bidders and this is Rudkins way of keeping his job for a little bit longer.

Rumour is Rudders is trying to cobble together a management buyout in conjunction with other directors.

Expect a submission from the trusty fax machine around fourteen seconds after midnight on the 15th.

This will just be first round bids - everyone who’s signed an NDA will have a deadline to put together their bid or a LOI.

This will be a 2 pager from the bidder listing price, rationale - deal structure, DD expectations.

It’s really pretty standard stuff, all that’s been leaked here to a journo is just the deadline. There will then be a R2a and b, b being full and final offers. Could be 6-8 weeks away from that after 14th September.

I have no idea what you're on about, but I agree

My understanding is that there is an interested party with links to a successful Spanish club. They want to bring in Juan who is one of their own people as director general de deportes.

Nice try rudders

I am more that a bit worried that we don't go up or even keep falling tbe other way. I am also worried that our ongoing poor recruitment actually hinders any sale. If I was buying the club and looking at the contracts and seeing Cullen, Burns 4 years, Skipp & Thomas 3 years, it makes me less keen. We would surely be better off not making any more permanent signings and stop bigging a digger hole. Keep it to loans or 1 year free agents. Rudkin, Glover, McAroon, Martin are all useless and should never work in football again

I said similar, I think we make no signings, then we are a more sellable club as its a leaner project.

but making no signings increases the chances of getting stuck in L1, hardly conducive to a buy out.

i think the actual squad is a minor concern to a buyer with long-term plans. besides, we have a decent squad for this level, full of pure profit commodities.

Lower league we are we also more sellable, a higher division raises the value of the club which makes it less attractive to buy.

A squad with effective negative equity (basically book value higher than actual value, and high wages) isnt an asset.

I think any of that stuff is outweighed by the positives we offer -such as the infrastructure and the profile of the club over the last 10 years.  Anyone who comes in is going to change the squad, change the management.  the squad is a detail that's constantly in flux.

And i don't see how this squad represents a negative equity when at least half of it is pure profit.

Seagrave is an elephant as well if the new owner doesnt see it as useful.

We have done better than usual in the players that have left, its just a shame we made these signings.

No one is buying us who doesn’t believe they get us back to the prem in 3 years.

Is this a quick turn around for a deadline for first bids? Feels to me that this is a short deadline.

Not really, bidders have had the CIM for 4-6 weeks already, this is only the first round so none of the bids are binding.

Makes no difference to that other than it would be easier to do it within 3 years with more margin available on spending.

They won't have set a deadline if there's no bids on the table. This is a deadline for all bids to come in with multiple interested parties, at which point those parties will proceed to the next stage to begin whittling down to exclusive rights. I know it's popular to say that this owners are inept and haven't considered the possibility of no bids coming in, but the sale is being handled by Citibank, not them.

They definitely will even without bids. The deadline is there because a mid or late season bid would have too big an impact on the transfer windows. For what it's worth, it's not the first time they do this, and the deadline on other occasions was exactly the same one.

This is all assuming there has been a deadline set. This is Ben Jacobs we're talking about. I've followed him since he 'burst' onto the scene from nowhere a couple of years ago.

My best guess is that he's a professional guesser. An educated guesser. His stories are usually plausible but he's never broke anything that you couldn't have worked out for yourself.

For what it's worth, the deadline is genuine. But as stated above, it's not the first time KP opens up a window for potential takeover bids, and the deadline on those occasions was similar. So it doesn't imply that there is genuine interest to take over both clubs.

Seagrave is a white elephant in League One.

But we are not alone in spending this sort of money on the training ground: so many clubs have been going down this route. I think Liverpools at the same time was comparable, and for more recent examples, Newcastle are just buying land to do rhe same thing, and even Ipswich's new training facility (likely cost in the region of £30m) is really impressive.

If the potential buyer will need to be investing £500m or so, I can see having Seagrave as a bit of a coup and a real asset.

Of course it is, I really don't understand what the obsession is with getting rid of Seagrave on here, I also don’t understand why people can’t see that we as a club are a good option to buy especially compared to most other teams certainly in our current league and majority of teams in the championship apart from the playing squad everything else is to a premier league level, there is also hybrid planning permission for money making additions which should have little to no issues with being renewed as & when it expires
