Leicester City players have to pay to stay at the club’s training ground – on nights they choose to stay, LeicestershireLive understands.

However, Russell Martin’s men are not charged for nights on which they are required to remain at Seagrave.

The new information obtained by LeicestershireLive comes after a report by talkSPORT that players were having to pay £80 a night just to sleep in the hotel at their £100million training base.

The move is part of a drive to encourage City players to live closer to the club rather than spend hours on a daily commute.

It will be interesting where this story of administration has come from ( not happening btw). If it’s from us, it might be to entice offers we want, if it’s come from outside, its to justify a low offer Or to reduce the asking price.

In his piece on TalkSport he stated that none of the prospective buyers have had full access to our accounts yet, hence why they've only been required to submit indicative bids. Yet at the same time he spoke as if he personally has inside info on those accounts. I find this implausible.

Saw the clip from Talksport yesterday and it was probably the most pointless 10 mins of that show I've seen (which is saying a lot!). Absolutely no decent information

There’s no way he’s buying the club and god help us if he does.

 

In his weird, attention-seeking TalkSport interview, he referred to us as “Leicester Football Club” 19 times.

 

He appears to have almost no understanding of how football clubs or their finances work.

 

He was talking about maximising revenues as if he’s the first person in the world to notice that commercial success can benefit the sporting operation. He also seemed shocked that LCFC makes a loss - are there any professional football clubs that make a profit?

 

It would be extraordinarily dangerous if this bloke and his consortium acquired the club. 
 

That’s before we consider the fact that it would probably be some kind of leveraged buy out.

There is currently a lot of noise about administration, but that's all it is—noise. he’s got a point about India being a relatively untapped market, but if he could be from a country with a stronger currency that would be great!

If a player asks to spend a night at Seagrave, the club is charging them a massively discounted £80 per night for the privilege. Please don't tell me you actually believe this indicates that administration is nigh.

I think it's more to do with the fact that why start charging players now and also the fact that (from what i can see) no other club charges their players. If they were trying to do it to "encourage" players to live closer, it's the most dim-witted way of doing so

Never underestimate the stupidity of these owners. 
Remember we promote this season…….

We currently have an owner who still hasn’t got a clue how financial fair play works so I wouldn’t hold out any hope of him knowing if we’re close to administration.

How many other clubs have hotel facilities at their training grounds? Man City and Spurs perhaps? Any others?!

 

As for why start now, the club has been heavily criticized for the perceived 'holiday camp' atmosphere at Seagrave. Maybe they're trying to correct that by not offering free luxury accommodation to any player who wants it. Players aren't charged when they're asked to stay there by the club.

 

I'm genuinely struggling to get my head around the fact that some people have used this complete non-story as evidence of impending financial doom. It's beyond stupid.

Absolutely - first round you never have ''access to accounts'' anyway, secondly it's not access to ''accounts'' either, LCFC will have had to engage with Big 4 or similar to provide some Financial and Tax DD reports, which will then be made available.
