a Martin team would never have 33 shots let's be real.

Maybe not, but his Southampton team in the season that we both got promoted from the Championship averaged the most touches in the oppositions box per game, most shots per game and the second highest non penalty xG per game. They also had 20 or more shots in 12 of their games with a highest of 31 and over the whole season averaged 19 shots per game. During the same season we had 20 or more shots in 6 of our games with a highest of 24, and over the whole season averaged 16.5 shots per game. This is of course the last time that he managed in England prior to getting sacked whilst in the Premier League, 2 whole divisions above where we currently are. But it's cool, wouldn't expect you to think or research for yourself before commenting.

Is it looking like a 30k+ crowd? Last season was grim with many virtually empty blocks. A close to full ground would be a boost.

And the performance needs to tap into that, attacking aggressive football

Anything less than winning, is a failure. That goes for every game this season. Burton Albion at home in the league? We should be battering them. This isn’t arrogance, it’s reality.

You know what's really sad?

I saw this thread title and thought, "Burton? Surely we can't be playing a friendly when the season's star... oh... right..."

Genuinely. It's still not sunk in.

Looking at the tickets left a available on the website, should be well over 30k there

Doesn't that depend on how many season ticket holders actually turn up

No excuses!
Need to kickstart our season a win and convincing performance to go with it!

We’re their cup final… they will leave nothing on the pitch.

Expect Burton to sell out all their 3k allocation, they always travel well. There'll be loads of Burton fans going undercover in the home end as well. No wonder its category A.

literally a flippant remark about how his style of football is ****ing shite to watch, and considers having possession to be the end goal rather than the means to an end but sure.

McCarthy, Reid and Thomas need to be dropped, arguably at least one of the CBs and Cullen is on borrowed time if he is as ineffective as he has been so far in pre-season and the 2 games.

Stolarczyk

Joseph

Okoli

Souttar

McFarlane

Skipp

Braybrooke

Burns

Alves

Oliver Skipp pardon the pun needs binning off. Saturday the bloke gave it away countless times and seemed half asleep. Another whose been in a malaise for 2 seasons.

And FFS play Bistric. Left it far too late to bring him on Saturday.

McCarthy

JJ Aluko Okoli McFarlane

Choudhury

Burns Braybrooke Howell Alves

Bristric

Subs: Stola Cullen Watson Gray Thomas Page

50/50 in playing from the back vs knocking it to Bristric

No Skipp BDR Souttar Mavididi Faes near the squad. Thomas on bench only because we have no other option.

I like this line up. I don’t think we need a dedicated DM against this lot and Braybrooke’s defensive numbers last season were ok. If Page is mentally still here he has the energy to cover that area and the ability to do something when he receives the ball.

I would play Alves on the left, Chaplin at 10 and Burns on the right. Alves showed last week that this is his best position, Chaplin is experienced at 10 and allegedly links well with Burns, which is why he gets the nod on the right. Bristric up front because there is no one else.

This line up allows Martin to play his position game, but with midfielders who can progress the ball through the middle.

Understandable, given the speed of the decline.

I'd go this but Hamza for Skipp.

I can't stand either of them, but at least Hamza has energy and physicality with his shitness.

Their CB and captain was a proper shithouse in that pre-season friendly, I’d get Britstric up against him, should be a good battle!
