So you're basically saying things got worse?

Not sure that's the flex you think it is...

More simply, form in the first few weeks doesn't predict an outcome of a whole season whether its a slow or fast start.

Only flex to show off my swans.......

And what about the £50m+ we've made in sales this summer (with more likely to come in the next two days?)

Clearly there are debts that need to be paid off.

But the experience of the last two seasons should tell us the consequences of a self-imposed embargo on signings.

Wrapped up in this years accounts.

I’m talking if it’s a case of staying up this season, what money can be brought in to make up the revenue slack we have in League 1 (or put up to get some cash off the Aussie bank).

The assets to sell are running out hence another season on the reduced revenues of League 1 would be a disaster.

Anything other than promotion this year is a major financial risk

Posted

Part of the problem comes from these newly promoted teams full of confidence which belies how good they really are but are enjoying the first blooms of their success now playing in a (former) Premier League stadium in front of a large crowd. It is their Cup Final against the Premier League/FA Cup/Community Shield winners.

This is a problem City need to overcome but playing slow negative football bores the hell out of me, looks arrogant and is simply negative. We need to demonstrate our skills by exposing the opponents weaknesses and taking the game to them. Passing the ball around the back in our own half or worse still our own penalty area will not do that.

My deepest concern is the club can ill afford anything other than promotion. So yeah it’s only three games but it’s also 5 points off the top two.

A failure sees likely administration and the club stays in a King Power inspired purgatory this season aka Blackburn’s Venky’s situation

If we don't go up we are FÙUUUUUUCKED

The last time we won 3 in a row was Apr 20th -> April 29th 2024. Before that was in February 2024.

We are going to have to hit form we havent done for a very, very long time.

Mentality is a huge issue right now. There are no senior winners in the team, and the academy graduates (as fantastic as they are) dont have track records of winning game after game at this level.

Something quite significant is going to have to happen to turn this around.

We are in a season of consolidation  after 3 or 4 disastrous campaigns. We are sorting ourselves out financially.

Avoiding relegation is the main target and play offs would be a bonus.

New owners incoming and the upward journey  will begin.

We’re NOT sorting out the finances, still borrowing against future earnings just to keep running. No more money coming in from KP. Yes we’ve reduced the wage bill, but it’s still not enough.

I do agree, I was saying to my mate on the drive down that the first 2 results were frustrating, but it's a long season and if we get our act together and climb the table, no one will look back at those 2 results.

But then we get that result, so now we're 3 games "we won't look back on at the end of the season"

Anything but a win on Tuesday, and we're 4 games "we won't look back on at the end of the season"

There comes a point where there's only so many results you can write off before they actually affect your end position. We can't be throwing away endless points and with the opposition we have faced, being at least 2 of the weakest teams in the league, we should be on 9 points.

I would have more understanding if we've lost to bad decisions, or bad luck, or those games where the ball just won't find the net....but we haven't...We deserve to be exactly where we are and i don't see anything changing against Plymouth -  As much as i hope i am wrong.

This is the thing yeah, winning becomes a habit and not winning also does.

We have a number of sides coming up who are expected to be in and around the promotion picture. The winless run could easily stretch to 4/5/6/7 games or we could get wins but still reach 10 games without matching that with points gained. At that point, we will be so far off the promotion places that realistically that will have gone.

I think many people just lack the ability to think critically and see things in real time. They will only realise this could be a problem after it has happened, rather than seeing it as it is happening.

I also agree we weren’t unlucky against MK. We just didn’t create much and most efforts were long range.

I just think we have been here before and it’s amazing to still see the same attitudes every season of ‘we’ll be fine’ just assuming things will turn around. Like I say, that’s not doomsdaying or saying we will go down. It is just saying after the last few years, we should learn to take it seriously as we are not ‘too good’ to go down.

Gutted I didnt do the relegation bet, the bookies was being weird so I got annoyed and didnt place, but bet odds have tumbled now from where they were in June.  Anything now is going to feel poor value compared to what it was.

It feels like being trapped in an episode of two and a half men sometimes.
- We filled our money cup with more money in the past, at the cost of putting more holes in our money cup.

 - the players we’ve brought in, in the recent past have not collectively kept the consistent money coming into the money pot by letting us slip down the league ladders, with potentially more to come with 2 points from a potential 6

I'm not blaming the players entirely it’s just a visual reference

potential points are all well and good but actual earned points keep us in the league (not great financialy but not as bad as relegation), or get us promoted (possibly ok financial outcome but who knows?).

no league 1 team this season has won there first three games. If you disagree with the majority FoxesTalk opinion and think the teams we’ve played are decent and will pick up a few points this season, then that’s makes it even more important to start winning games as it could put the threshold for survival even higher.

Using the two and half men money cup analogy, makes those suggesting sensible finances “Stans” and those who advocate spending our way out of trouble “Charlies”

Are you trying to imply that Hull wont go the whole season without conceding and wont be in with a title shot come May?

Based on the 2 games so far I fail to see how they will concede a goal, keeper is on top form no one is ever scoring past him.

If you are correct then we are near to administration, so any points deduction should get us relegated to league 2.

We will still come back however low we plummet.ref Cov Sunderland, Brighton  etc

We were in the playoffs after 5 games last season I don't recall any "getting promoted" threads

Oh yeh how misguided we were 😂

Nobody has actually suggested we’re getting relegated, just that our 5-year trajectory is enough for it to be concerning.

’Getting promoted’ threads might signal balance to you, but in reality they’d be ignorant. ‘Getting relegated’ threads might signal knee jerk reaction to you, but they have been consistently justified by fact.

With Reid, Faes, Souttar and Skipp our wage bill is still too high for revenue. For the first time I have heard management below the owner are concerned. A sale with cash flow is urgent. If we don’t spend we will probably be OK for this season. A second season in this division or worse and then we probably are in administration.

Oh come on we don't need a bloody thread for this, it's three games. Get a grip.

Yes we do. We're in league one and we're here for everything that comes with it.

The lowest position in history is not worth noting?

Hopefully Administration could be the springboard we need for a real fresh start and reset. They can only deduct points off us once,Onwards and upwards we couldl be back in he premier league within 10 years.

One would hope but remember if we go into administration we will also face transfer embargoes and other restrictions on top of the points deductions.

We are a one club city with a large fan base.

We have a rich history and are known  world wide. What ever they throw at us We will be back, how ever hard it is and how ever long it takes. We will be a lot cheaper for new owners if we can go into administration. Also this is the worst outcome for KP financially and their reputation and pride. To avoid this they will end up taking a low ball offer and walking .

It's clear KP don't want to put any more money into us, It's not that they don't have it, they do.

But it's going to have to be the Players, Fans and RM. doing it for ourselves this season.

The good news is we're not quite at rock bottom so we can progress from here.

Then see where we finish this season and re evaluate.

Many of us remember the great escape. One or two wins can work wonders for moral on and off the pitch.
