This was all on the tactics (and Thomas) and could have been fixed after 15 minutes.

 

Thomas walking to the halfway line with the ball, not passing to Alves or the LB and smashing the ball to either Reid or Sammy.  Both couldn't control it as Oxford were pressing by then.  Everyone is high up the pitch and Oxford run forwards and offer support.

 

The last game Page was getting the ball quickly from deep, turned and ran the pitch with Alves and Sammy as support.  This time they were all expecting it to happen from a pass by Luke Thomas while waiting high up the pitch.  

 

Reid was the worst he's played, couldn't pass and didn't even bother to run for a perfect 1-2.  Burns is a meat and potato winger that needs the ball in space and support to help cross into the box, he is also slow and can't tackle.

 

The whole left side was ignored because Thomas can't pass, yet he was happy to constantly do his no look backless that no one was expecting.

Oxford are under a transfer embargo and have off loaded 18 players and signed 2, who are being paid by their parent clubs.

Martin has no excuse for this.

The experiment of best of Enzo with Luke Thomas in control of attacks didn't work from the first pass, so Martin keeps it going for 90 mins.

The whole defence was an absolute shambles, they couldn't even keep a line to play offside. But it's all on Martin, who doesn't think you need to worry about defending if you keep the ball all the time.

But it seems we can go from decent stuff to honking from one game to the next and also within the same game.

 

Martin's style of football seems determined to stifle any kind of momentum. As if a cerebral, dispassionate approach is the best one.

 

But if that's genuinely the approach, he's forgetting that passion is as important an ingredient to winning football matches as talent, ability and trying to 'control the game'.

 

If you can marry the two, brilliant. But when we're playing badly or we've been unfortunate and find ourselves behind, we need players to take the game by the scruff of the neck and force the issue.

 

Knocking it about probing for an opening isn't going to cut it. It looks lackadaisical and arrogant. And it has to stop now.

I recall there was talk after the play off final with Soton he was going to be sacked, despite gaining promotion. Even there board could see the cracks, but choose to give him about 9 games. One of those games was losing at home to us!! Yep Steve Coopers Leicester army.

Martin changed the tactics from last game, imagine Luke Thomas playing prime Enzo ball.  It was even worse than you could imagine.  Page was expected to get a scrappy pass from Sammy or Reid who were pressed because Thomas took ages to pass to them.

Rubbish. Watch and analyse the game properly and stop writing headlines like that which you know makes fans pile on with negativity. Play like that and we'll be absolutely fine. Created numerous brilliant chances and win comfortably on another day.

I'm speechless. I was on the BTG stream last night saying with the squad we have we would piss the league and win it easily. Instead I've just done a watch-along for the worst result in our history.

 

I already knew things were utterly broken at the club, but Jesus Christ.

 

If I was at the game today I would have stormed the pitch and directors box.

 

The lowest of all lows... so far.

I would love to see you break down the tactics of Thomas in charge of Enzo ball.

Spent the day working on a lawn renovation. Three hours with an aerator, new grass seed, dirt, and fertilizer was clearly far more productive than watching this drivel.
