That is absolutely damning.

 

Considering Phil Brown has been invited to bring whatever team he would have been coaching, presumably his most recent one, Peterborough Sports, he's looked around these incredible facilities and he's come away and called it soulless on national radio.

 

Just because it's a sprawling, state-of-the-art facility, it doesn't have to be that way.

 

There can be soul, and standards, and a strong mentality, and a will to win, and a proper culture.

 

But it starts at the Top.

So if it happened while he was the manager at “Peterborough Sport” (not to be confused with lucozade sport) then it would have been during Cifuentes’s time as their managerial tenures line up.

 

seems like he’s talking about the club in general being soulless. Not necessarily the architecture of sea grave alone. Although it sure as shit isn’t helping

I think if you are used to a small scale intimate facility, then a large expansive one can well feel like that.  Part of the buzz in a space comes from it feeling busy.

We are currently soulless let's make no mistake about it. Our identity of being a team that pressed in packs and fought to the final whistle has gone....what are we now other than a wannabe Total football team more obsessed with scoring the perfect goal and completing a billion meaningless passes rather than scoring goals....it was a million times more fun when we played on the counter attack....there's no passion from the players....no hunger or desire it's just players going through the Martin Ball motions and hoping for the best. Whilst I think the culture at Seagrave is a massive part of the problem, what does "soulless" even mean? And how does Phil Brown come to that conclusion after spending three hours there for a friendly?

I’ve done a few jobs at Seagrave and he’s hit the nail on the head. The layout, the design, the energy there…. It’s awful.

Is he? He's saying that you get a vibe from a place when you've been around for a long time, which is totally fair enough. Sounds like he's saying there was no unifying culture, camaraderie etc which i think we all feel from the outside looking in

They seem to have done so since I went on 606! Monday night club last night, Johnathan Norcroft , Henry Winter, Jeff Sterling covered it today as well.

100%. I won’t accept anyone telling me that if Brighton had built a facility like Seagrave, they wouldn't get significantly more out of it.

Seagrave is a massive complex. It’s gotta feel like no one’s home even when people are actually working there. Architecture can have a profound affect on the ambience and vibe of a place.

They should sell belvoir training ground and move the ladies to Seagrave. It’s big enough to accommodate both teams surely. The atmosphere may improve.

Seagrave was laid out to pander to PL egos not to instill a club all for one attitude. The first team is separate from everyone else including parking their cars. As we have declined that becomes more evident. The first team section feels empty and the term soulless is quite appropriate. First team players are escorted to a seperate media centre adding to the air of aloofness. The other facilities are busier and feel livelier. Holding the lower team games there is also a bad idea it’s not designed for this and they should be moved back into the city at the KP. Move the non first team players and academy in with the first team to reinstall a together feel and put the overpaid lot in their place.
