Well it wasn't was it? The result is poor and disappointing but we were the better team by miles

How many points did we get then for being the better traam??

We wasn't miles better, if that was the case we'd have won etc,

Our defence is honking to say the least as wwll

Also 1 point from the Burton, Oxford, pboro and now this,

Try and defend RM more

It’s a game of opinions… but to think that was a “fine performance” is an opinion, and a level of expectation that I find difficult to comprehend.

Glad you enjoyed the game though

Well we did play well. You're confusing result with performance. If we win that 3 or 4 1 like we should your perception would change. We didn't defend well for the two goals but we played well created lots  and were easily the better team. If we keep playing like that we will win more than we lose

I'm not defending RM I'm talking about today's performance being good and we should have won. It's a very disappointing result and bad defending letting us down again like at Luton

 But this is the problem

I’d rather be playing crap and winning

we NEED to promote !

There is too much emphasis on playing nice and neat football and not enough on winning games. League 1 clearly isn’t a league where nice and pretty football is well rewarded.  Shock

Anyone else bemused at the Lundstrum substitution?

No, he wanted to get Smallbone on. Same with Burns and Chaplin, it doesn’t matter what the score is or who comes off, as long as he gets them on.

Because we played well and gave everything

Didn’t give everything defending sadly, hence why we dropped points

There no point analysing it, this will carry on whilst Martin is in charge. The team just isn’t set up properly, doesn’t function properly and is being asked to do something it can’t do.

Sadly we have to expect to see Okoli attempting to be a play maker and Thomas. If they are insisting on playing down the left constantly, they need to replace Thomas with a player that can pass forwards and wants to take a player on.  If it’s not in space and he’s running, Thomas will always stink it out by passing back without even attempting anything.

Should have kept Alves on as he had their LB on a toast when he was on a booking.

Sums this team up that performance, did enough to win but then the absolute puddings at the back just knackered it.

salt in the wound was my son saying Luke is his favourite player. Was actually decent going forward today but it’s still not what any parent wants to hear.

Feels like a DNA test might be in order.

I just have way higher aspirations and expectations.

I want a soft, giant, juicy fresh peach off a tree performance, not a withered, dry, crunchy unripe supermarket one and then pretend it doesn’t taste of nothing

Not a bad point.

Bits of performance were encouraging.

Fans were poor again

Hard to criticise the fans who are doing their best staying awake watching Souttar take 10 mins to make a decision that is always go sideways and never forwards.

Yes absolutely.

When I think of “giving everything” I think of games like the play off finals in the 90s, where the running, tackling, effort, 50/50 challenges, running with and without the ball, are clearly lung bursting levels of effort.

I think of players throwing themselves at a far post ball with 2% chance of getting it, putting their body where it hurts, doing anything to block a shot, never thinking of anything other than winning.

I think of Les Ferdinand knocking himself out heading the ball then defender, and when he smelt the smelling salts asking if it went in.

At the final whistle, seeing them drop to the grass unable to muster the energy to walk to the changing rooms.

Being on your feet throughout the game urging them on, hoping that your noise, your positive energy is helping them to keep digging so deep.

I’ve not seen us give a performance where we’ve “given everything” for several years.

Today was so far away from that it feels like a different sport.

Pass it around a bit. Play a few nice looking through balls. Run around. Panic at the back. Make a few mistakes. Concede two. Ah well.

I have to say that’s the first home game I’ve been to since Oxford. First twenty minutes were quite encouraging, great start with the early goal. Then for whatever reason we took our foot off and let them into the game - complacent. Silly mistake for the first goal, switched off for the second. A game we should have won, but sloppiness and poor substitutions cost us three points.

Stevenage were bang average, didn’t put us under loads of pressure. A game we should end up winning, we drop two points. And in reality, that is because we have become an average third tier side under this ownership, and certainly under this manager.

This supposed 90pts target we have set ourselves is becoming less and less achievable given the start we’ve made.
