1/3rd of the season review

Realllly Shit: Martin, O'Horror, Okoli, Coulibaly, Watson, Howell, Burns, Chaplin, BDR

A bit shit: Aluko, McCarthy, Thomas, Cullen, Bristric, Souttar

OK/Promising: Doyle, Lundstram, Joseph, McFarlane, Kangasniemi

Only people stopping us being bottom 4: Page,  Riis, Braybrooke, Alves

Its a real buggers muddle of a squad and could go seriously tits up with a few injuries and suspensions.

I don't get why Bristric isn't even in the squad. If you need a goal in the last ten minutes, you stick a second striker on and lump balls into the box. Two up front can cause havoc. I'd just like to see what him and Riis can do on the pitch at the same time.

Hes shit

2 things can be true at the same time. On the one hand, the result can absolutely be far from what we would expect in a home game against Stevenage - and therefore massively frustrating. But at the same time the performance could also be pretty good, which I think it was today. We pinned them back for large periods, moved the ball around well for the most part and created enough chances to win easily. By contrast, we restricted Stevenage to virtually nothing - they were handed one goal by the type of terrible individual error by McCarthy that no manager can legislate for and then they scored from a v low probability shot from what I'm sure was their only touch in our box in the whole 2nd half. That's football. We just have to hope that if we keep producing dominant performances then results will start to follow. All that said, RM needs to have a rethink about the options he has on the bench and his use of subs.

Usual performance, dominate, create plenty of chances to only score 2.

Oposition only need a few chances to score 2, from our mistakes.

McCarthy was a joke yesterday.

There’s no excuses. We should be beating sides like this comfortably.

There’s no hope things will turn, because they won’t. This is the most expensive squad in this league by some distance. With the best paid manager. There’s no other option than being comfortably top.

Good and accurate summary, we're a 4 man team.

Maybe not but there is progress at least. The Luton game and this are poor results but we played well

You really don’t expect more than what we are seeing this season given that Souttar, O’Hora, Okoli and Thomas alone will earn more probably any other squad in this league combined?

I don't accept that is a fact, or at least it doesn't need to be.  Martin has us mid table but I firmly believe a half-decent manager has this squad challenging for the title.

Which half decent manager is coming to league one Leicester to make the difference?

As he said weve been sh1t since Enzo.

Name the manager.

Challinor

Imo better than half decent.
Knows the league and if Sheffield Wednesday are interested there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be.
Should have got him in the summer.

They are a really poor side, their left back played like a competition winner, plucked out of the stands.

We conceded two school boy level goals.

Thought the same about their left back. One of the worst professional players I’ve ever seen

Not blaming the fans.
Just being realistic that Leicester aren't a champions league any more.

Given current state - performance was encouraging.

Fans ok at the start - but awful by the end.

We can't just expect to win every week because its little Stevenage/Wigan/Bromley

No side wins every week, even prime Man City or Liverpool that hauled in 100 points in the season dropped points so it’s not really a valid argument to suggest the fans expect or think we should win every week.

You are missing two key points.

1. A 5-4-4 W/D/L record is so far away from that so you can’t argue that this is because we aren’t winning every week.

2. The above record for a side who is paying wages so astronomical for this league and so so far above rival clubs is a pathetic performance. What other industry would a business just continue being so poorly run and have stakeholders (such as supporters) defending it?

I guess your ambition for this season is midtable at best?

I still don't get why we lost the urgency after 15 minutes, never looked like adding a second until Stevenage scored the equalizer.

Just took the foot off the gas pedal. Just baffling.

In this league, and with this squad, you need to put pressure on the opposition, impose yourself, ESPECIALLY AT HOME. Most teams in this division are piss-poor and there for the taking, and we allow ourselves to be dragged down to that level.

Ludicrous.

Bench is simply not good enough, we've played more than a fourth of a season, approaching a third, and I see little to no impact from subs. We've got a more or less settled starting XI – but beyond that, it's dire.

On the contrary, Russell Martin's tactical decisions work AGAINST us, such as Chaplin and Burns coming on, and witnessing Stevenage making it 2-2 two (!) minutes later.

Where's Bristric? We've got a two-million pound striker nowhere to be seen. He should be replacing Riis up front in the latter stages of games and terrorize opposing defenses.

Do the manager and his team teach defending basics? Build from a strong back line, and take it from there. We've already conceded 19 goals. Unacceptable.

I watched bits on a stream. Not only do people go, they’re ****ing clapping…. Clapping?

Ive said it before, we will be the only club in the world, where the fans will boast about being sat in silence at the KP when we go bust…..

”I were there when they took the seats out of the ground and closed us down”….

I wonder if man utd and west ham have the same percentage of clueless imbeciles who back the board no matter how useless they are?

I agree with this, though Bristric has been poor, 2 up front should be an option at times, but what a sad state of affairs we’re in when we have no striking back up!

Given that our best players this season have been Braybrooke, Alves, JJ, and Page, we should never have loaned out Evans.

This. And the highest paid manager in the whole EFL bar Nuno allegedly….

On paper this team should be top, there’s nothing entitled about that, it’s an opinion formed on the players previous experience largely being a higher level than this.

The fact that some fans are failing to see how this is an utter failure to this point is staggering, they’re either ostriches, or don’t know alot about football.

They can only see the individual game in front of them and have no understanding of context or critical thinking.

They see possession and shots and think ‘that’s a good performance, we were unlucky’.

But there is no understanding as to how much in wages we pay out compared to others in the league. And the argument that because we are unhappy with being midtable in L1 with 5-4-4 so far means we think we are still in the CL is just a daft daft take from them.

Everyone knows how enormous the wages are - but that doesn’t mean that they should be heckled every time they make a mistake. They are human beings as well - and are unlikely to respond positively to abuse.

We are - currently - a very poor league one team. We need to get to the stage of being a decent league one team. Then we can think about being a good league one team.

Yesterday had some encouraging signs.

You really don’t seem to appreciate that across football, and sports in general, there is and should be, a huge correlation between finances spent and output.

We went ahead in little over a minute and the fans are up for it, so what is the excuse for what follows week after week? You are making out like fans are being negative from the start!

And I disagree that most of these players are poor league 1 players. We have some absolute wasters, many brought this summer, but any other manager would get a lot more out of them. The whole mentality of the owner and his cronies, the culture around the club and respectively, fans who accept it, are what has caused the decline to the lowest point in this season and the first time we will spent consecutive seasons below the second tier.

Exactly what you’d expect given that exactly mirrors what happened on the pitch??

We pay a manager the second highest salary in the league ABOVE us. Our player wage bill is more than those 3 clubs combined.

We absolutely should expect to win every week (or perform to a level that, aside from sporting shocks, could win every week).

Anything else is failure.

We are witnessing failure.

Fans should not be celebrating or encouraging failure.

We haven't been in the top six all season. We still have a negative home goal difference.

If this is acceptable then we shouldn't spend so much money on it. The club cannot have it both ways- sign high profile players, appoint high profile managers presumably to win the division then claim 10th in November is good enough.

Modern football is awash with new or previously unheard of statistics, availability of which is even more accessible using the latest technology.

Yet, surely, we are in much need of a 'Shitometer'? A clear, concise and accurate measure of a players general performance. Just imagine the 'experts' discussing these metrics on MOTD.
