Read this just before Christmas, well written story of two girls growing up in occupied France, one hiding the fact she's a Jew. The author is a poet which I feel shows in the flow of the story.

Reading I, partridge now.

Who? PM me if you don't want to go public.

I'm only guessing by just putting a few scraps of info from the blurb , but i think the author might be Voleranga ( not sure how it's spelt) He was quite a regular poster a couple of years ago but seems to have stopped now.

i'm only joining up a few dots , so i might be completely wrong about it .

davieG's son right?

A Google search of the name throws up a link stating his location as Norway which again supports the theory.

yes that's right, i thought he might be  davieG's son , but couldn't be sure.

it's not much more than a hunch, but i thought he mentioned that he was trying to get into writing , and i feel sure the name "Gavin" was mentioned in some posts  by people who know him .

Gavin + Oslo + Leicester , it just made  me think it was possibly Valeranga

it could just be a coincidence, and as davie doesn't seem to have mentioned it , then it probably is just that.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before , and i haven't read it yet , but i think the book's author may be a former FT poster

There's only one review , but it's gives 5 stars and a glowing testimony.

i find it extremely difficult to read novels these days ,and it probably isn't my sort of book anyway , but hopefully it will sell well .

It's only £1.93 so if it's crap I shan't have lost much. I'll make a change from the stuff I normally read.

Bought this today Whitstable Mum In Custard Shortage. It's a collection of unusual news stories and headlines from Britains newspapers. The Leicester Mercury features about four headlines including the Lor Mayor trouser dropping incident but no stories just headlines.

Some funny stories many must have happened on a slow news day.

Just ordered a Star Wars novel. 'Darth Plagueis' by James Luceno.

Anyone read any of the books/extended universe?

I'm reading The Moaning of Life by Karl Pilkington. Not one to make you think, but it's funny.

Will be back to serious stuff after. ;)

Just bought Wilbur Smiths's 'The Sound of Thunder' and 'A Sparrow Falls' for 99p each of kindle's daily deals. Read 'When the Lion Feeds' a few months back and thought it was a great novel, really pleased with this deal.
